Some neighbors borrow cups of sugar, but actress Ellen Pompeo's neighbors request chicken eggs. According to PeoplePets, the "Grey's Anatomy" star spilled a story to Ellen DeGeneres about an unusual encounter she had with a neighbor.

Pompeo is a proud mother to one male rooster and several hens that live in a beautiful and secure coop built by a contractor. As expected, her rooster wakes her up at the crack of dawn, but until recently, Pompeo had no idea that her neighbors heard the morning alarm, too.

"I have this other neighbor who I don't know and still don't know, and she emailed me one day and said, 'I don't have my rooster anymore, but my hens are very depressed because the rooster isn't around. Can I take an egg, a fertilized egg?'"

Pompeo kindly obliged and replied, "Nice to meet you, too. Come and get an egg." The strangest part about the request was that her neighbor came to collect the egg while Pompeo wasn't at home. Ellen DeGeneres joked that perhaps her neighbor was trying to sneak a peek at the actress's first-rate chicken coop.
