One Quarter of Women Would Dump Their Man If Pet Didn't Like Him

It looks like men have much more to worry about than just impressing their girlfriend's family and friends. When it comes down to it, their biggest concern lies in a girl's canine companion, according to the Daily Mail U.K.

A study by the National Office of Animal Health (NOAH) found that a quarter of women would dump their boyfriends if their pet did not like them. Furthermore, a third of female pet owners would leave their bed to sleep on the floor if their pet was sick. Half say that they greet their dog or cat before anyone else when they arrive at home.

Men, on the other hand, are a little less committed to their furry counterparts. Only 12 percent say they would split up with a girlfriend if their pet did not like her.

Overall, many pet owners consider their cats and dogs as members of the family. The study concluded that ten percent of all pet owners would save money by cutting other spending costs before they would reduce the amount they spent on their pets.

As someone whose beloved cats are not "pets" but family, it's a requirement that any relationship I have be with someone who loves my loved ones. That's understood from the first. Those who don't, don't get a second glance.

Wouldn't date a guy who liked or had cats? But dogs are a go? Real selective, aren't you? Unless, of course, you were physically allergic to cats, but you didn't specify.
