At the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington, DC, a small elephant shrew is growing up quite fast! This little guy was hunting crickets within just weeks of being born. 

LET IT SNOW

Two newborn snow leopard cubs are shown off at the Chattanooga Zoo in Tennessee. The cubs were born to parents Czar and Kasimir, resident snow leopards at the zoo.

CUTE CUBAN CROC

A stunning Cuban crocodile is now on exhibit at the Reptile Discovery Center at the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington, DC. 

BIRTHDAY FELINE

At the Oregon Zoo, Cricket the caracal celebrates his birthday. He just turned three!

WALK THE WALK

A gorgeous maned wolf stalks around at the Jardim Zoo in Brasilia, Brazil. Researchers in Brazil might use cloning as a last resort to help fight the decline of this beautiful species, among others. 

THANKFUL FOR KOMODO

At the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, Washington, table manners are optional. Carnivores at the zoo will enjoy feasting on delicious turkey scraps this Saturday. A certain komodo dragon already began his feast. Want some gravy with that?

At the Bat World Sanctuary in Texas, Peekaboo the bat enjoys some honeysuckle.

Two rare Mexican gray wolves arrived at the Mesker Park Zoo and Botanical Garden in Indiana. They are the most endangered wolf species in the world.

A female orangutan holds on tight to a block of ice which contains vegetables and fruit at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.

In Frankfurt, Germany, a beautiful bearded vulture inspects its new home. Hopefully, the bird will pair with Riccarda, a female bearded vulture that has been at the same zoo for about a year.

There are a dozen turtles currently being cared for at the New England Aquarium in Boston, Massachusetts.

At Howletts Wild Animal Park in Canterbury, United Kingdom, a six-month-old gorilla named Ama perfects her driving skills.

A LITTLE GIFT

At the San Diego Zoo, the new panda cub's name is ... Xiao Liwu! The name means "little gift," as he is a gift to his species. Congratulations to the whole panda family!

Kato the baby giraffe is very popular among the younger giraffes at the San Diego Zoo. Here, he is pictured with his mom, Kizuwanda.

Two giant otter pups have been swimming around and having a blast at the Chester Zoo in the U.K.

Tim Savage, a zookeeper at the London Zoo, has the tricky task of counting every animal in their care. During the annual inventory-taking session, the zookeepers have to tally up to 252 different species. Good luck!

Florencia, the recently born spider monkey, has just moved to a larger enclosure at Twycross Zoo in Warwickshire, U.K. How adorable is she?!

WELCOME TO THE WORLD

This tiger cub is only one month old. He is one of three babies were born last month at the Medan Zoo in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. Here, he is shown to the public for the first time. 

THE GREAT RELEASE

A bald eagle that had received care at the Caroline Raptor Center in Columbia, South Carolina, flies for freedom with assistance from the Riverbanks Zoo. How wonderful!

In New South Wales, Australia, Beau the echidna puggle is doing very well under supervision at the wildlife hospital. He is being exposed to dirt, so he can dig and burrow. Too cute!

A WARM WELCOME

A two-toed sloth named Leander enjoys a nice, tasty platter of some of his favorite foods at ZSL London Zoo. He has just arrived from Germany. Welcome, Leander!

In Rwanda's Virunga Mountains, maternal affection is seen at its best as a mother gorilla wraps her arms around her offspring when the drizzle turns into downpour.

This adorable 12-week-old otter is growing up! He has already ventured out of his nesting box and opened his eyes at the Drusillas Park in East Sussex, UK. He has also started showing an interest in solid foods this week. Adorable!

After being covered with vermillion on their foreheads, Nepalese police dogs stand proudly at the Tihar festival in Kathmandu as they become blessed. It is customary in Nepal for people to offer blessings to dogs, which are the messengers of Yamaraj, according to Hindu tradition.

In April, three quokka joeys were born at the Perth Zoo in Australia. Now, they are out of the pouch and ready to rumble!

Jamina the Saxony duck is known as being "quite a character." Aside from being adorable, she's always inquisitive and loves being trained. She resides at the Taronga Zoo in New South Wales, Australia.

Exciting news! The team at the Marine Animal Rescue in El Segundo, California, is currently caring for a baby loggerhead turtle nest of 160 eggs rescued before Hurricane Sandy. Good luck, little ones!

SAVE THE OXEN

At Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont, three oxen escaped death. Currently, the school is under attack, as many would like for the oxen to be in a sanctuary.
