Diver Swims With Deadly 26-Foot Anaconda

the daily dish More on PawNation: Anacondas, Awesome, Reptiles, Scary, Snakes, The Dish, Weird

Obviously, this diver hasn't seen the movie "Anaconda." According to the Daily Mail U.K., diver and snake fanatic Franco Banfi took a dip with a 26-foot anaconda who was on the prowl for food in Mato Grosso, Brazil.

The fearless 53-year-old man spent the day swimming with the massive reptiles, watching them hunt in their natural habitat.

The opportunity also allowed Banfi to get up close to the anaconda on land, as well. The diver confidently approached a snake digesting its meal.

"As the snake had just eaten, it didn't take much interest in us," Banfi told Daily Mail U.K. "Everything is possible, but I don't think it would have eaten us. I was very close; I could have touched it if I wanted to."

Banfi got a good look at six different female anacondas during his dangerous dive. While Banfi couldn't stop photographing the snakes, the giant reptiles didn't seem too interested in him.

Instead, the snakes were interested in rustling up their next meal, searching the murky bottom for fish and small animals.

Banfi said that it is the anaconda's appetite for more petite food which makes him feel comfortable with the colossal creatures. It is the smaller, poisonous reptiles that scare this snake enthusiast.

"At the first moment, it's scary because you don't know the animal and everybody says it's dangerous," Banfi shared with Daily Mail U.K.

"But after a while, you understand that nothing happens if you respect the snake."

Anacondas don't attack anything they can't swallow. A full-grown man in diving gear? Hardly. Calling the snake deadly is misleading. Many Aquariums would to love to have this animal. I hope that (as human nature has proved) that no one tries to kill it. The article calls the snake a "predator." What does it think humans are?

This is fake. A 26 foot Anaconda would be a world record. If this were true, you'd have every single herpetologist in the world on the first plane they could get on to go to Brazil. But mostly this photo looks "photoshoped."
