According to Taipei Times, researchers from Jy Lin Trading, National Ocean University and Academia Sinica have developed the world's first-ever fluorescent pink angelfish.
-
The beautiful sea creatures have been nicknamed "pink princess" and "pink angel."
-
This is the first time the world has ever seen a fluorescent pink strain of angelfish since the fish were initially discovered in the Amazon.
-
Lin Yu-Ho, president of Jy Lin Trading company, noted that the fluorescent proteins that displayed the "pinkish" color were discovered by National Kaosiung Marine University associate professor Chen Ming-chyuan.
Gong Hong-yo, professor at the National Ocean University, found that the fish would be born pink if micro-transfusion methods were used to transfer the protein into the fish's fragile eggs.

One foreign buyer offered a large sum of money for one of the glowing pink fish, but Jy Lin Trading Co. has declined until the species passes safety assessment tests. According to KXAN, each fish will be expected to cost $3,400. You can view a video of the shocking-pink swimmers on the KXAN website.

November 12 2012 at 5:43 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThese are the same Biologists that developed the "Glow Fish", so what is the issue ? The science behind it was sound, but now they have come up with another use for their original discovery. Think about it this way, there will be less pressure on the native species in their environment, to provide for individual aquariums hence the wild fish populations can survive in their natural state. Of course, this is if the humans allow those Eco-systems to survive.
