According to the Daily Mail U.K., a truck stuffed with 500 cats was stopped during a routine check in Xuzhou as it tried to make its way to restaurants across China.
-
The hungry and abused cats were either stuffed in burlap bags or crammed into cages.
-
One of the officers who helped rescue the cats said, "The driver said it was a full load of rabbit. But after we instructed him to uncover the load we were shocked to find a full load of living cats."
-
When officers made this discovery, they were appalled. A local animal protection center was contacted and volunteers quickly arrived on the scene. Volunteers released the cats by cutting open the bags with their keys and knives.
-
The owner of the truck refused to say where the cats came from. It took seven hours for him to turn over the cats to the rescue teams.

"Why can't they just breed chickens and turkeys instead of cats and dogs? I personally think eating domestic animals such as the ones we keep as pets is totally cruel and dusgusting!"

I am an animal lover, too and all of this makes me sick. We must wake up and open our eyes. Stop the useless killing of the innocents!
OMG SICK, I wish they published this guys name!

With overpopulation and massive famine during it's history Chinese people have had to learn to eat anything that moves to stay alive. Cats have been part of their diet for centuries. The French eat horsemeat, the Koreans eat dogs, in Arab ccountries they eat camel, Russia eats fish eggs, and in America we eat frog legs, chitlins (pig intestines), crayfish, cow brain sandwiches, bull testicles (sweetbreads), cow tongue, blood pudding, etc. Stuff is only weird if you didn't grow up eating it.

November 03 2012 at 9:38 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySeriously you have to ask? Because cats are domesticated animals! Dogs and cats are part of our families! Clearly you must not have cats or dogs or you would not have had to ask!

November 03 2012 at 7:33 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI have always been a cat person for some unknown reason to me. Maybe a past life? Cats are as much mans best friend as dogs or any animal that people love. If China should be hit with the bubonic plague or some other sickness that having cats around could have prevented I hope they will regret what their doing. Shame on them!
