ARTICULATE ELEPHANT 

Trainer Kim Jong-Gap stands with Koshik, a 22-year-old male Asian elephant at the Everland Zoo. He is no ordinary elephant -- researchers say that Koshik can imitate several words using his nose, trunk and mouth, mimicking numerous Korean words which are understandable to visitors.

NATIONAL BISON DAY

PUMPKIN TREAT 

The Hoofed Stock department at the Houston Zoo recently welcomed its newest member. Meet Pumpkin, a little female yellow-backed duiker! 

ADORABLE ANTELOPE 

Zookeeper Martin Damboldt cuddles with a baby sable antelope after feeding at the Berlin Zoo. After the mother of the one-month-old antelope stopped feeding it, zookeepers intervened and now feed the antelope daily milk from a bottle.

TAPIR TWEE

Celestýnka, Zoo Brno's new tapir, is ready for visitors to come visit him.

TURKEY TROT  

The Blue Slate Turkey is a breed of domestic turkey known for the slate gray color of its plumage. Although it is very rare, you can see these turkeys on display at the Santa Ana Zoo. 

RESCUE BEAR 

A bear cub walks inside the forest enclosure of the International Fund for Animal Welfare at Bear Rescue Center. So precious!

A weedy sea dragon floats around the water at the Georgia Aquarium. 

OPERATION CUTE RESCUE 

A dog named Shaggy is handed from a National Guard truck to National Guard personnel after the dog and his owner left a flooded building in Hoboken, New Jersey. 

RARE TURTLES 

Prague Zoo has bred three spiny turtles this year! The species is extremely difficult to breed because the female only lays a single egg.

BIG BRO, LITTLE BRO 

Baby brother Vince met older brother Dozer for the first time this morning at Burgers' Zoo. Their mother, Kwanzaa, kept a close eye on the toddler.

FORTUNATE FEATHERED FRIENDS 

Due to big winds over the weekend, two tawny frogmouth chicks were swept out of their nest in Dundas, Ontario. Lucky for them, the two were quickly rescued and taken in for care by one of Taronga Zoo's keepers. 

MEET THE NEIGHBORS 

A young African elephant welcomes a flock of cattle egrets to its desert neighborhood in sub-Saharan Africa. 

UPSIDE DOWN & BALANCED

Nada the bat hangs upside down to feed on some delicious fruit to balance out the day's diet. 

OTTER PUPS' FIRST PHOTO 

Chester Zoo recently released the first picture of their two recently born giant otter pups. The duo was briefly spotted inside of their den by one of the zookeepers over the weekend.

Hungover at work? Don't worry, you're not the only one who partied too hard last night! This monkey from Detroit Zoo looks like he could use a big nap right now. 

BISON BABY 

In early October, Prague Zoo welcomed a new baby bison! It may be small now, but soon enough, it could grow up to 11.5 feet and 2,200 pounds.

Chanua the baby black rhino enjoys a pumpkin at the Chester Zoo in England with her mom, Ema Elsa.

INCOGNITO GIRAFFES

At the Greenville Zoo in South Carolina, Kiko, Autumn and Walter are all doing great, but due to the poor weather, it is unlikely that the giraffes will be on exhibit. Stay warm, giraffes!

PUMPKIN TREATS FOR ME

Today, zookeepers will provide yummy pumpkin treats to animals at the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, Arizona. This black panther looks super excited! 

SPOOKY FUN 

Tatqiq, an 11-year-old female polar bear, plays with a Halloween lawn ornament in the shape of Frankenstein's monster at the San Diego Zoo. 

MOMMA'S LITTLE GIRL

In Tel Aviv, at the Ramat Gan Safari, a two-week-old baby macaca negra named Nina stands close to her mother, Nahi.

At the Santa Fe Zoo in Medellin, Colombia, an iguana strikes a pose for the camera. 

QUOKKA IN CHARGE 

Four-year-old Poppy-Lou the quokka was hand-raised by one of the keepers at Taronga Zoo. She is known as being super friendly and the boss of the yard, even taking on the emus! Impressive.

EAST COAST PETS TAKE SHELTER 

Bill Ryan, of Inwood, N.Y., comforts his cat Amy before leaving her at a pet shelter at Mitchell Park's Field House, run by the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management and Pet Safe Coalition. Pet owners had the chance to drop off their pets at the shelter before seeking shelter for themselves. 

TILLMAN THE GREAT 

Tillman the skating Bulldog was inducted as an honorary Marine, Private 1st Class, at Sky Ball in the American Airlines Hangar in Dallas, Texas, over the weekend. Congrats! 

RAYS OF LIFE

Monterey Bay Aquarium's giant green sea turtles bask in the light to get some good sun therapy. Just like humans, they rely on the sun for vitamin D.

Fahari and Zuri, two of the Smithsonian National Zoo's juvenile female lions, recently made a move to the Santa Barbara Zoo. They're settling in well in their enclosure with a gorgeous ocean view. Lucky cats!

Sakassou, an African dwarf hippopotamus, gets a warm, hay-filled welcome from keepers at Doué-La-Fontaine City Zoo. 

FIRST-BORN CHILD 

This unnamed baby giraffe, born at the end of September at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, has grown so much over the past few weeks. His first-time mom, Ijuma, and dad, Uno, are extremely proud parents. 

SPIRITED SWEETHEART  

Colin the red ruffed lemur plays with a carved pumpkin at Bristol Zoo in England. We wonder what he's going to be for Halloween!

VETERAN MAMA 

Vila, who turns 55 this weekend, is said to be the third-oldest known Western Lowland gorilla in the world. She gave birth to the youngest member of their gorilla family, an adorable one-year-old named Monroe. Monroe loves hanging out on top of his mama's back! 

LION LOVES

Meet Mogo Zoo's newest additions, a pair of beautiful, healthy and round little lion cubs! They were born at Mogo Zoo seven weeks ago and are getting up to much mischief -- but are far too cute to get mad at. 

GIBBON BABY 

An adorable baby gibbon was recently born to the Doué-La-Fontaine City Zoo family. Beautiful! 

PEEK-A-BOO

A tiny meerkat attempts to crawl inside of a carved pumpkin to get at some tasty mealworms at the Brookfield Zoo. He must love pumpkin-flavored treats! 

BAMBOO BREAKFAST

Kai Kai, a panda from China, starts its day off with a big bite into some bamboo inside of its enclosure during a media preview at the Singapore Zoo. 

RHINO WELCOME 

A precious baby rhino was recently born at Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay. Look at that tiny horn!
