    The Daily Mail UK has reported that a two-year-old autistic boy's therapy chickens were violently decapitated over the weekend.

    J.J. Hart had four pet therapy chickens at his DeBary, Florida home to help him to break through his autism. He often referred to them as his "ducks." Sadly, his parents have to break the devastating news to him that they are gone.

    It all began when the Hart family were told by enforcement officials that their chickens had to be removed. They were given a two-week period to appeal the $100-a-day fine. But before they could come to a decision, J.J.'s father made a gruesome discovery.

    At around 9am Saturday morning, J.J.'s father Joseph found two hens and two juvenile chickens dead in their coop. He immediately called the police.

    J.J.'s pet chickens had helped the toddler improve his vocabulary and social skills. "It was kind of a breakthrough, like he actually reacts to the chickens and makes noises we couldn't get him to make ourselves," said Mr. Hart.

    They have yet to tell their son the chickens are gone and are afraid of how he will take it. "I don't know how he's going to react to this. I don't know if he is even going to be able to understand," J.J.'s mother said.

    Although some of the chicken carcasses reveal teeth marks in their necks, the Hart family believes this was the act of a human, not an animal.

    According to the police report, the family observed two bricks and a piece of wood blocking the coop's entrance. Other than that, there are few leads. The Hart family had created a Facebook page dedicated to J.J. and their effort to save his "ducks" prior to their decapitation.
