Heroic Texas Cheerleaders Stop Dog Mauling, Return Pup to Owner

A woman from Plano, Texas is expressing thanks to a group of high school cheerleaders who saved her dog's life. According to NBC DFW, Olive, a 7-pound Chinese Crested dog was pinned to the ground of Bob Woodruff Park by a larger dog and was almost killed, until the girls stepped in.
It all began when Stacy Yarbrough, Olive's owner, decided to take her three dogs on a walk during the first week of August. A larger dog managed to wiggle out of its leash and charged towards Olive.
"She was being killed in front of my face. He was killing her," recalled Yarbrough of the incident. Then, Yarbrough saw a group of girls rush over to separate the animals and she was able to scoop Olive out of the mess.
Yarbrough rushed Olive to emergency care to treat massive internal injuries. Although Olive was saved, Yarbrough wasn't able to fully thank the teen girls, who turned out to be members of the Plano East cheerleading squad.
Yarbrough reunited with her pup's peppy heroes this past week at the park where they saved Olive's life.

So upsetting to see dog fights especially a larger dog attacking a smaller, more helpless dog. Owners should be held responsible for keeping their pets, especially aggressive ones, on leash. And when they don't they risk being charged for their negligence. That said, just thankful that Olive is going to be ok and that these cheerleaders helped save her life. God bless you all - you did the right thing.
