Toby, a 7-year-old Lhasa Apso, will be forever remembered as a hero after saving his 81-year-old owner Derek Ramsden when he slipped and fell into thick, sinking mud. According to The (U.K.) Telegraph, Ramsden was in Wales with his wife Ada and decided to take their two dogs, Toby and Bruno, for a walk.

After the incident, Toby ran for a quarter of a mile to let the security staff at the Bryowen Holiday Park in Borth, Aberystwyth know about his owner's fall. Toby barked furiously at the staff, alerting them about the problem. He then lead the security guard to his owner, even stopping to let the helpers catch up with him.

Toby's grateful owner could not be more thankful for his hero dog. "I managed to get a hold of a railing on the bridge. It was frightennig. I could not get out and you can't hold your grip for long at my age," said Ramsden.

Ramsden's wife was worried sick about her husband. After he had been missing for an hour, she decided to search for him. She then came across him, covered in mud from head to toe.

"The dog knew what it was doing. It ran past apartments through bushes and alerted security," said Park maintenance manager Ben Thompson.

"He's my very own Lassie. He saved my life and I'm very grateful," said Ramsden.

Wonderful. Dog have a soul for sure. They also do the same thing for one another. when my little rat terrier mix fell into the pool, the Australian Shepherd started barking in a very different way than she used to. She didn't stop until I came out and found him on a floater, i the middle, in a small pool on the floater. Once she realized I was there she stopped but stood close by until he was out of danger. They KNOW when someone needs help!!

Wonderful story and such a smart and cute dog. Animals recognize trouble and danger when they see it.
