Mutant Three-Clawed Lobster Caught in England

One lobster has a bit more pinching power thanks to an extra claw. According to the (U.K.) Daily Mail, the crazy crustacean, nicknamed Claws, was caught in Devon, England and ended up at Jackson's Fish Market.

Lobsters normally have a larger claw for crushing and a smaller one for cutting. This lobster sets itself apart by having an additional claw growing from its larger one.

Jacksons director Matthew Endacott told the Daily Mail, "In my 20 years of working in this business, I've never seen anything like it. As word has spread around the town, more and more people have been coming to see him. Lots of children have come along."

The 3-pound weirdo will soon be sold to whatever lobster lover is interested. Scientists say this repetition of body parts occurs when genes give the wrong signals, but the abnormality won't affect the meat of the lobster.

I like the suggestion of placing these unusual mutations in a tank for viewing. I'm wondering if we can't do the same with politicians. They all seem to have two mouths working and one can't remember what the other one said.

I don't know what jackass didn't drop it back into the sea. But when you eat living things, you just don't care. You can't tell meat eaters that animals are special. They'll never get it. Even when the animal actually IS unique. I'm pretty sure it's dead already. I have a chicken with 6 toes on one foot instead of 6, and her foot is crooked. Most people probably would have though she should have been eaten to spare her a lifetime with a limp, but she's special to my Autistic daughter and a great egg layer. :-) She doesn't know she's different.

Let's step back from the abstract question of lobsters as food and ask ourselves whether eating a MUTANT is all we hope it turns out to be (good meal). Mutants are like GMO (genetically modified organisms) and whether Monsanto made it or Mother Nature made it, there may be a hidden downside. I would throw it back into the sea and let it go its happy way. I don't have to eat lobsters to survive on this planet, and one more mutant thing in my aging body might send the declining cells into a Wall Street tailspin. I wonder. This lobster is like a human born without feet, so why not feel some HUMAN pity? Sarah Palin is all about Pro-Life, let's start with basics in the sea that sustains us with watery love.

Lobsters and crabs are the cockroaches of the ocean and to find a mutant example is not surprising when one considers the millions of tons of pollution we have dumped in our seas. for centuries
