MEERKAT DEBUT 

Meerkat pups born in July are finally making their public debut at the Dublin Zoo. So precious.

PADDLING OUT 

Susan Gell excercises her horse, Shoshoni, in Scotland. Susan lives on Inchtavannaich Island on Loch Lomond and regularly takes her horses to the mainland for exercise by letting the horses swim across the water. 

PANDA CUB CUTIES 

These giant pandas love to hug each other. And why not? They look extra cushiony.

LIL' LILIGER 

Female liliger cub Kiara, a hybrid between a lion and a ligress, plays at the Novosibirsk Zoo, in Novosibirsk, eastern Sibiria. Kiara was born over a month ago at the Novosibirsk Zoo.

ANIMAL PRACTICE PARTY 

The stars of "Animal Practice" came out to The Club Beverly Hills to celebrate the upcoming premiere of their fur-filled show on NBC on Sept. 26. Castmates Tyler Labine and Joanna Garcia Swisher pose with Swisher's pooch. Say cheese!

Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens share a pic of their sleepy koala that spends its afternoons lounging around in the trees. 

TEACHER'S PET

A tortoise walks onto the coloring project of a tortoise by Gavin Thoen in the first-grade classroom of Dawn Slinger school in Farmington, Minn. When the school year is over, each student's work becomes a book. Maryland-based Pets in the Classroom project is offering grants to help teachers pay for pets, cages, tanks and supplies of food.

An Amur tiger cub, also known as the Siberian tiger, looks out of a basket during weighing at the Leipzig Zoo in Leipzig, central Germany.

This little meerkat solemnly swears it is innocent at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.

San Diego Zoo Safari Park recently named their newest addition, a beautiful baby girl elephant, Qinisa.

PINSE-WHAT? 

The breeding of Pinselohrschwein pigs at the Berlin Zoo has finally been established. 

PANDA BABY 

A panda cub was born at Washington's zoo over the weekend. Panda cubs are born hairless and are about the size of a stick of butter. 

SAND-SARA 

This imprint in the sand was left by a sleeping Sundara, our eight-year-old Asian elephant.

THE LION AND THE BUTTERFLY 

A lion is fascinated with a passing butterfly. Adorable! 

DARLING DWARFS 

The Dwarf Mongoose can be seen in the internal viewing area at the Edinburgh Zoo. 

FOREVER YOUNG 

Galapagos Tortoise Cerro turns 46 today, but he’s young at heart. Galapagos Tortoises are known to live more than 100 years with one recorded being 175!

This otter pup is one of two litters, including four pups, born at the Perth Zoo. The otter births at the zoo are part of a regional breeding program specially for otters. They are the first born in 18 years. 

VICUNA VERSA

These lovely vicunas appear to look like one vicuna with two heads. Although the photo is a bit misleading, they seem to be enjoying a nice rest on the grass at Chester Zoo.

WHITE-FACED, NOT TWO-FACED

The white-faced saki is found in north central South America, and is a type of New World monkey. Its name comes from its unique color of fur, which is attributed to the monkey's unique appearance.

HOT, HOT HIPPO

A hippo in the San Diego Zoo feasts on a juicy piece of watermelon while taking a nice dip in the pool. 

CHIMP OFF THE OLD BLOCK

Ruben the chimpanzee monkeys around with his surrogate mother, Kito, at the Oklahoma City Zoo. Sadly, Ruben's mother died 24 hours after giving birth during a medical procedure. Ruben arrived at the Oklahoma City Zoo on July 30, and he is slowly becoming acquainted with the other members of his family. 

KANGA-CLEAN

A young kangaroo at the Philadelphia Zoo takes a moment to clean his face. Although the picture suggests this kangaroo might be sad, we believe this little guy just has some schmutz on his face. Too cute!

SWEET TOOTH CARNIVORE

Kinkajous are often mistaken for monkeys. However, they are actually closely related to raccoons. These cute critters are found in the rainforests of Central America, and despite having sharp teeth, their diet is actually 90 percent fruit. 

GECKO GREATNESS

A beautiful day gecko poses pretty for the camera at the Los Angeles Zoo.

HORNBILL HONEY

A red-billed hornbill shows off his stuff at the Oregon Zoo. Absolutely adorable!

HEADSTRONG HOG

A hog at the Columbus Zoo shows everyone how he really feels at that particular moment: a bit shy and maybe even a little frustrated. Keep your head up, hog!

SPINY SWEETIES 

It's been three weeks since Cameron Park Zoo welcomed four baby hedgehogs into their family. Polaris, Storm, Magneto and Juggernaut used to be the size of a teaspoon, but have grown to be the same size as a golf ball. When fully grown, these tiny creatures will be about the size of a softball.

EARTH TO MARS 

A Pug poses for a photo during a famous race in Tuscany in which pug participants dress as aliens and compete in a sprint, obstacle course and marathon. 

DOWN AND DIRTY 

A mole digs in the dirt in the French city of Godewaersvelde. 

WINGED EDUCATORS 

When these two sooty-owl chicks are older, they'll join the QBE Free-flight show at the Taronga Zoo to educate visitors about the wonderful world of birds.

PIG RACE

BABY GIRL RHINO 

Pittsburgh Zoo welcomes their newest addition, a baby female rhino. Seen here with her mother, Azizi, both mom and baby are doing well.

HANGING OUT 

Homer, the Hoffman's two-toed sloth, can be found hanging around the rainforest gallery at the National Amphibian Conservation Center. 

PILLOW HUG 

The Reid Park Zoo welcomes a baby tamandua (lesser anteater) named Quito born late August. He's so tiny! 

DARLING DEBUT 

The male Grevy’s zebra was on exhibit for the first time this morning at Reid Park Zoo. The young zebra had a low birth weight, but he is now nursing, gaining weight, and ready to explore the larger habitat.
