The lucky group of seven have all been named after dogs that risked their lives searching for survivors of the 9/11 attacks. The pups plan to live up to their namesakes by completing training and moving on to help protect the nation and its people.
Dr. Cynthia M. Otto, the director of the center, shared her thoughts on the project with Gothamist: "We hope to study and train their proteges at this center and aim to advance the health and performance of all working dogs through our work."
