Just when you thought puppies couldn't get any cuter, now they are being trained to save lives too. According to Gothamist, the Penn Vet Working Dog Center has started a program that will study and aid detection dogs. Each of the seven puppies chosen to take part will be trained in the detection of bombs, missing people and cancer.
-
The lucky group of seven have all been named after dogs that risked their lives searching for survivors of the 9/11 attacks. The pups plan to live up to their namesakes by completing training and moving on to help protect the nation and its people.
Dr. Cynthia M. Otto, the director of the center, shared her thoughts on the project with Gothamist: "We hope to study and train their proteges at this center and aim to advance the health and performance of all working dogs through our work."
