Turns out dogs can be a cat's best friend too. According to the Cincinnati Zoo, their cheetah cub, Savanna, recently was introduced to a Lab puppy named Max. The two have become furry friends, proving canines and felines can get along.
-
Before Max barked his way onto Savanna's best-friends list, the young cheetah was feeling pretty lonely.
-
To ensure that Savanna grew up happy and healthy, she was moved to the zoo's nursery and hand fed every 2.5 hours.
-
In early September, Savanna made the big move from the nursery to the zoo's Cat Ambassador Program. To celebrate the change, she was introduced to Max the next day.
-
The unlikely pair became inseparable playmates almost instantly.
-
Zookeepers often introduce cheetah cubs in captivity to young dogs as a source of companionship. The staff is discouraged from forming close bonds with the young animals, so this relationship is critical for development.

Savanna and Max's play sessions will continue as long as both animals are interested in the meet-ups. Looks like these two will have a long friendship.

It's animal endangerment also, when this cat walks up to a human, it will be shot. That is if it doesn't attack one of the kids first. It is and always will be a wild animal, my domestic cats bite me, and sometimes scratch, fortunately they are small

The reason is because naturally cheetahs are skittish the dogs calm them down and they learn to rely on each other. The dog gives the cheetah enough confidence to keep it from over stressing allowing for a longer life. It's a great use for those pound puppies that are unlikely to find homes.

September 17 2012 at 5:29 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThat just shows proof that animals do have brains and how they love anyone and animals unconditionally. This world would be a much better place if we did the same.
