What bones he isn't underfed that is normal for a Dane its cruel to have an over weight Dane maybe you need to research info before accusing the owner. My friends Great Dane is 9 right now he is doing great and looks like this dog just shorter

September 14 2012 at 1:12 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyLove these big dogs! The problem is, the bigger they are, the shorter their life span. Great Danes seldom live beyond the age of 7
September 14 2012 at 1:12 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyGreat Danes have a much wider range of life expectancy than some of the other giant breed dogs like Irish Wolfhounds. The range is cited as between 7 and 13 years. My personal experience has been with two spayed bitches who I raised from puppies. My oldest bitch lived to be 12 years and 4 months and the other bitch lived to tsee her 11th birthday. Two problems which significantly effect their life expectancy are bone tumors (osteogenic sarcomas(killed Giant George) and bloat. Bloat is a result of stomach torsion and occurs much more frequently in the giant breeds. It is a veterinary emergency. Your claim that Great Danes SELDOM live beyond the age of seven is in direct conflict with my personal experience.
