Cats are said to always land on their feet, but sometimes dogs do too. According to BBC News, an 18-month-old Weimaraner named Norman survived a 250-foot drop over the White Cliffs of Dover, England.
-
Owner Simon Spore told the BBC that his fiancee's son was walking Norman, and lost control when the dog went chasing after a bunny. Norman followed the rabbit a litte too closely and tumbled over the stepp cliffs, landing in the docks below.
-
Norman's 250-foot fall from the sharp edge of the Dover cliffs is similar to surviving a drop from the top of the Statue of Liberty.
-
Dock workers quickly gathered around Norman after his fall, noting that the dog looked pale but still lively, and got him on his way to a local veterinarian. After receiving a call about the accident from his fiancee's son, Spore and the family rushed to meet Norman at the vet, fearing the worst for the dog.
-
Spore told the BBC, "In my mind, I was going back to retrieve a dead dog, my dog." Instead, Spore found Norman's alert face eagerly waiting for him. The dog had sustained several injuries from the fall, including a collapsed lung and broken pelvis, but doctors ultimately were amazed by how little damage the canine suffered.
-
Thanks to Norman's luck and upbeat attitude, he is going through a speedy recovery. The dog's lung is already re-inflated, and he is able to move around with little pain.
-
Aside from Norman's superb spirit, Spore believes his dog's recovery would not have gone so smoothly without the fast action of dock workers and doctors. Thanks to the assistance of these everyday animal lovers, Norman was able to get the care he needed quickly.

After almost losing Norman, Spore is hoping to prevent other dog owners from going through the same experience or worse. He hopes to encourage the area to post more signs about the White Cliffs' dangerous drop-offs around the cliff's edge.
