Dalmatian Adopts Orphaned Spotted Lamb
the daily dish
One maternal canine is seeing spots, and she likes what she sees. According to Buzzfeed, a loving Dalmatian took over mothering duties for an orphaned lamb.
The pair look related thanks to the lamb's Dalmatian-like spotted coat, but the owner of the animals, John Bolton, says the spots are just a cute coincidence. He believes the bond between the dog and the lamb initially was formed because the dog is in the midst of her birthing season, and is brimming with untapped motherly love.
Now that the Dalmatian has found a baby to care for, the duo are inseparable. The dog helps keep the lamb clean and content, while the bleating baby happily soaks in all the love and attention.
Bolton sums up our feelings on this bizarre but adorable bond nicely. "It doesn't matter how old you get," Bond says. "If this sort of thing doesn't make you feel good when you see it, well, I hope never to get that old."
