Cats With "Poopy Pants"

Simone Friedman, of Los Angeles, just adopted a new kitten. An adorable little Persian girl named Pinky. Now, I don't know if you're familiar with Persians, but they have pancake flat faces and fine fluffy hair which requires a whole lotta brushing and care. Adorable!

Everything was going so well until one day Simone smelled something nasty on her bedsheets. "It was poop!" says Simone. "I was so grossed out, but I didn't know how it had gotten there." One look at Pinky's furry tushy had the answer! "She had poopy pants!" screamed Simone.

Persians are known to have sensitive digestive systems and when you combine that with long hair around the backside, you are left with a real mess, let me tell you! "I tried to wash her bottom in the sink, but she totally freaked out and scratched up my hands and arms and even got my face. I thought maybe I could sedate her a little so I could wash her, but I looked online for cat sedation options and all the info suggested it was dangerous."

Simone also tried to cut the poop out of Pinky's fur, but she totally freaked out and when scissors are involved, that can be extremely dangerous. "I was at a loss, " says Simone. The situation was exacerbated when Simone found out she was pregnant. Pregnant women are not supposed to be around cat poop because it can carry a bacteria that causes toxoplasmosis-extremely dangerous for pregnant women. "I was totally freaked out that Pinky would bring poop into the bed. We tried to keep the bedroom door shut, but we have four cats who love to sleep with us and I missed them. I knew there had to be another solution."

So Simone went searching online. Well, surprise, surprise, stupid! There was no miracle cure, just one word -- SHAVE. "I have two issues with getting her shaved. One is that she's gonna look silly and might miss her natural coat and two -- it's expensive!" But Simone had no other choice. Especially because Pinky's digestive problems were not going away!!! She did her research and found a place that would shave her for around fifty bucks. That was the low-end. "When I went in, I asked if they could shave just her backside, but they said they only did full body shaves."

Well, four hours later, Simone was called to pick her up. "She looked like a sunflower!!!" They left a round ring of fur around her head, tufts on the bottom of her paws and a poof at the end of her tail. Your typical "lion cut". When Simone brought Pinky home, one of her other cats, McCoy, was totally freaked out by her. "Cause she looked like a freak!" says Simone and they put some frou frou powder on her so she smelled like a boudoir!" But did it solve the poopy pants problem? "It did." says Simone relaxing into a smile. "Now we get her shaved about once every 3-4 months. I can live with a sunflower-lion, as long as she's a clean sunflower." Well done, Simone. If you notice your cat is having poopypants issues, do not wait. Take action to remedy this gross issue!

Randall =)

This is hilarious! I have a Norwegian Forest cat that gets a lion cut for much the same reason. I laughed so hard when I read this article.
