Annie the Maltese/Westie mix is one lucky pooch. According to Gothamist, the adorable fluffball from Queens, N.Y. went missing in May 2011, but was miraculously found this week more than 500 miles away in North Carolina.
Jessica Ortiz, Annie's owner, said, "I am in complete shock. We had searched and searched for her. I had resigned myself to the fact that she was gone, and was just hoping she was with a good family."
Last Wednesday night, a driver found the little dog in the middle of a highway in Liberty, N.C. The driver then brought the dog to a local rescue group, Happy Hills Animal Foundation. They scanned the dog and found that she had a microchip.
Annie will be reunited with Ortiz soon.
