Man Claims to Have Most Convincing Loch Ness Monster Photo Yet

the daily dish More on PawNation: Celebs, Fish and Marine, Loch Ness Monster, Sea Monsters, The Dish, Travel, Weird

There's no doubt that Skipper George Edwards has his sea legs, but did he capture a photo of one of the most elusive sea creatures of all time? According to the (U.K.) Daily Mail, after 26 years out on the Loch, Edwards believes he has undeniable photographic proof that Nessie is a real monster.

Edwards is a man who has dedicated his life to this much-talked-about monster. He has been cruising the Loch in his boat, Nessie Hunter, for more than two decades, searching for the beast. He also offers Loch Ness Monster-centered tours on his craft, usually spending 60 hours a week on the water. To capture a new photo of Nessie is something Edwards lives for, and now he is certain he has accomplished the feat.

The photo Edwards took shows a dark hump rising above the waterline of the lake. Edwards said he spotted the mass slinking in and out of the water about half a mile from the deck of Nessie Hunter. He snapped the photo as he looked on at the far-off animal's movements, which he said lasted about fives minutes before the creature fully sank beneath the water and disappeared.

After the supposed beast submerged back into the depths, Edwards tried to locate it with sonar, but had no luck. Edwards isn't letting this failure to connect get him down, especially after obtaining the supposed proof he has been searching out for so many years. He understands that skeptics abound, but stands by his beliefs.

While the picture may not seem like much to many people, to Edwards it's proof that his 26 years of searching haven't been in vain. Because of the hump's shape, Edwards is certain that the Loch Ness Monster isn't just a large sturgeon like some have said. To prove his point and the validity of his photo, Edwards claims he had the picture verified by U.S. military monster expert and Loch Ness Monster-sighting specialist Steve Feltham.

"I’m convinced I was seeing Nessie as I believe in these creatures. Far too many people have being seeing them for far too long," Edwards said to the Daily Mail. "The first recorded sighting was in 565 A.D., and there have been thousands of eye-witness reports since then. All these people can’t be telling lies. And the fact that reports stretch over so many years mean there can’t just be one of them. I’m convinced there are several monsters."

with all the thousands of hunters and hunting dogs afield and no hunter or dog has ever found a dead 'big foot', i think the idea of a 'big foot' existing is pure bunk. the idea of flying saucers is more believable. as far as the loch ness monster goes, maybe, a real slim maybe!

If you ask any hunter if they have seen a dead bear or dead mountain lion, the answer would probably be "no". And they are more common in numbers than "Bigfoot". Also worth noting is that if Bigfoot is related to humans, they may bury their dead, which would make it almost impossible to find a dead Bigfoot.

Absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence.

I've been on his tour of the Loch. Even if you don't see Nessie it's an amazing experience! The views of the castle from the boat and the chance of the thrill of seeing a creature makes his boat ride the best on the loch. I believe him!

Why can't anyone ever get a decent shot of these legends?

As others have suggested, people will believe what they want to believe, whether it is about UFO's, monsters, or political issues.

Great photo. Of what I have no idea. I love the the fact that no one ever gets a good photo of these things. I suspect though, that some large creature has gotten into that water at one point or another is likely the basis for the legend. Since then, every drunk fisherman who sees a log floating by tells his tale and keeps the story going.

Could be folded rear dorsal fin of a sturgeon. He could think he actually photographed something unusual, because he never had seen something like it. People see Loch Ness on the lead and dismiss it in an instant.
