'Goat Ghetto' Mysteriously Disappears From Neighborhood

More on PawNation: Farm Animals, Goats, Small and Furry, Weird
Citizens of an upscale neighborhood in Penngrove, Calif. were up in arms about a "goat ghetto" that was being housed at a neighbor's property for years. But when animal-control officers came to remove the goats, the animals were nowhere to be found, according to KGO-TV.

The owners of the property purchased their home in 2005 for $1,360,000. A few years later, the property has turned into quite a mess. Neighbors believe that the couple are hoarders. The owners of the house say they are not hoarders, that they are just "collectors of junk." Cars, bikes and trash littered the driveway. In addition to this junk were the goats, the source of the neighbors' main complaints. According to KGO-TV, the goats were everywhere on the four-acre property. At one time, the owners had more than 100 goats, but were down to about 85 goats last week.

"Goats are like Lays potato chips: you can't just have one," said the female owner of the house.

Under a plea agreement, the owners agreed to remove the goats by Wednesday, Aug. 1, or risk the county taking the animals. On Wednesday morning, Sonoma County animal-control officers went to the property expecting to remove more than 50 goats and other animals. When they arrived, the goats were gone. The couple who live at the property have moved the goats to an unknown location.

I believe you have to know more about the story to really comment and I don't. This type of thing belongs on hundreds of acres away from other homes and in a farming community not residential that much is obvious.

goats are cool but they stink and not to mention they eat everything on site. I went to Peru for vacation my uncle brought one little goat and left him in the backyard overnight--my aunt anna washed me clothes and hung it to dry in the backyard where the goat was--next day all my cool clothes were gone and converted into a million shitballs all over the place haha

Having grown up on a farm, I can tell you 4 acres is certainly not enough land to sustain 85 goats, let alone 100. I'm wondering how their zoning laws were written...

Years back I lived next to a hoarder who had over twenty goats on about a third of an acre. He also had junk cars, etc. There are few things more annoying (besides perhaps his roosters) than the sounds of dozens of goat hooves on junker cars at five AM. I cannot blame the neighbors a bit. They can also stink, and on that little land there couldn't have been a blade of grass left after the animals got through. That had to be an unbelievable mess.

Well they hardly "mysteriously disappeared". They were ordered to move their animals elsewhere so they did. Not so mysterious and not at all newsworthy. 5 minutes of my time I'll never gain back.
