CUBAN CROCODILES

A biologist at the National Zoo's Reptile Discovery Center in Washington holds a 13-day-old Cuban crocodile hatchling. Two crocodiles hatched from surprise eggs laid by a 50-something-year-old Cuban crocodile earlier this month.

CALF CUTIES 

A white bison calf walks around in a field with another bison calf at the Mohawk Bison farm in Goshen, Conn. 

SPECIAL SEAL  

At just a few weeks old, a rare albino South American fur seal sits next to its mother Harimee, whose fur has the normal color, at a zoo in Dortmund, Germany. 

SEA TURTLE SURGERY 

An endangered juvenile green sea turtle recently underwent experimental surgery to repair a deep skull wound it had.

MEET SAVANNA 

Savanna, a 3-week-old female African cheetah cub, is currently on exhibit in the Children's Zoo’s Nursery. Zoo nursery staff are bottle feeding her six times a day, every 2.5 hours.

MAN OF THE SHELTER 

Perry Mason is greeted by "Buddy" at the Southaven animal shelter in Mississippi. Mason was recently named Director of Animal Control for the City of Southaven. 

BROWN BEAR PADDLE 

Nellie the European brown bear enjoys herself on a pedal boat covered in her favorite treats, including strawberry jam and grapes left in the enclosure by staff, at Blair Drummond Safari Park in the U.K.

BABY LOVE 

An orangutan named Dwi rests in his mother's arms, five days after his birth at the Amneville Zoo in France. 

OWL OLYMPIAN  

Bob the burrowing owl is the star of the London Zoo's Animal Athletes in Action. Here he competes in a 100-centimeter sprint. 

BROADWAY BARKER

Sunny the dog will star as Lilla Crawford's sidekick in the new Broadway production of "Annie." 

SEA TURTLE WEBCAST 

The New England Aquarium hosted a sea-turtle webcast on Wednesday in which they answered questions submitted by sea-turtle fans. 

PELICAN PRECIOUS 

Two great white pelican chicks have just joined the Wildlife Reserves family in Singapore.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAGGIE! 

Maggie the Bornean orangutan celebrated her 51st birthday recently at Brookfield Zoo in Illinois. 

WINNING NAME 

Daley Thompson, a gold-medal-winning decathlete from the 1984 Olympic Games, feeds his adopted giraffe that was named after him at the London Zoo. 

TIGER DOG 

Sassy, a Papillon, won first place in the costume division with her hand-made tiger at the Mercer County Fair Pet Show in Harrodsburg, Ky. 

SWEET SQUIRREL MONKEY 

The Oakland Zoo recently welcomed a precious baby squirrel monkey.

HORSE DRINKING FOUNTAIN 

A man jokes around with his horse named Grass Valley as they drink from the new water feature at the New Zealand Olympic Equestrian Event. 

BUSH STONE BABIES 

Perth Zoo has successfully bred nine Bush Stone-curlews over the past two years. They have released six into the wild to help increase native animal diversity. 

LIL LION LOVE

Princess the lion licks one of her white lion babies in Kempten, Germany. Princess gave birth to six white lion cubs.

NEW LITTLE SIS 

A female bonobo recently was born to the Columbus Zoo's bonobo, Unga. Unga has given birth to two other bonobos, both boys. Gander was born in 2003 and Jerry in 2008.

MOOSE MUNCHKIN

Recently born moose calves are the biggest attraction right now at the Tierpark Hellabrun Zoo. Who could blame zoogoers for that? Those guys are too cute.

HANGING OUT 

A warden at the Virunga National Park hangs out with his orphaned mountain-gorilla pal in the gorilla sanctuary. 

CHEERY CRATE CAT 

We are so happy to hear that the 3-month-old kitten that survived a journey across the Pacific in a shipping container from China without food or water is recovering from her ordeal.

NICE DAY FOR A WALK 

Lulu, an African elephant originally from the San Francisco Zoo, roams around Paws Ark 2000 Sanctuary in San Andreas, Calif. 

GIMME THAT FISH   

A YouTube still shows a whale shark sucking small fish caught in a fisherman's net in Cendrawasih Bay in the province of Papua in Indonesia. 

CURIOUS CAT 

A bobcat sits on top of the roof of Monroe Correctional Complex, Washington state's largest prison. He was later tranquilized and will be released back into the wild. 

DOG DAY AT WORK 

A bloodhound and his handler from the Congolese Wildlife Authority participate in a training exercise at an airstrip in Katale in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. 

CAT COMES HOME 

Barbara Oliphant was reunited with her cat Wollie after it wandered six miles away from home. 

SAND SPRAY 

A 7-year-old elephant named Horas sprays sand around at the zoo in Kiev, Ukraine. He was officially presented to the public today. 

HONEY BADGER DOES CARE 

Randall is heading back to Tanganyika to visit "Cookie" the honey badger, and to help raise money for their winter fund. He will be presenting at the Twilight Tour on Saturday, August 11, 2012. Visit the park's website for more information. 

POLICE POOCH 

British police-dog handlers and their dogs sniff around Heathrow airport in London in anticipation for the London 2012 Olympic Games. 

CELEBRI-FRIENDS 

"The Hunger Games" co-stars Amandla Stenberg and Willow Shields make friends with Cocoa, a bottlenose dolphin, at SeaWorld San Diego's Dolphin Point. 

WEE WHITE RHINO 

Jumaane, a wet and muddy 4-month-old African white rhino skips around its enclosure at the Singapore Zoo on July 17. 

NATIONAL ZOO KEEPER APPRECIATION WEEK

A hippo says thanks to his favorite zookeeper at the Denver Zoo in honor of National Zoo Keeper Appreciation Week! 

BERLIN'S NEW IGUANA BATCH 

Berlin Zoo recently welcomed eight newly hatched green iguanas. It was the first breeding success of green iguanas at the zoo. 

PRECIOUS CARGO

An African lion is the first passenger of a new flight that connects Italy to Nicaragua on its first direct link with Europe. The lion is headed to Managua's Zoo. 

A FAMILY AFFAIR 

The Kardashian family were in attendance for opening night of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus on Monday at the Staples Center. 

BUFFY BEFRIENDS BELUGA 

Sarah Michelle Gellar may be all grown up now, but SeaWorld is for all ages, especially her 2-year-old daughter Charlotte. Nanuq the beluga whale was one of many animals Charlotte and Sarah met over the weekend. 

KITTY CAT CART

Only a few weeks old, poor little kitten Joey lost his mother when she was crossing a road near Exeter in Devon, U.K. Thankfully, Joey has a new foster mom and family. He and his big step-brother Chesney (the one pushing the cart) are shopping around for a new home. 

PRECIOUS PENGUIN 

Fort Wayne Children's Zoo welcomed an African black-footed penguin into their colony recently. He is their first chick in three years.

LOLA & SANTANA 

A black-capped capuchin named Lola cracks into some brazil nuts while her baby Santana watches and learns. Capuchins also use flat rocks to crack open really hard nuts.

SEA TURTLE RESCUE

This baby hawskbill is one of 24 sea turtles that have been rescued by SeaWorld Orlando this year.

WELCOME, BABY SPOON-BILLED SANDPIPER

This little guy is one of the first spoon-billed sandpipers to hatch in the U.K. The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust travelled to Russia in 2010 and collected spoon-billed sandpiper eggs from the wild. This emergency action was taken when it become apparent there could be as few as 200 of these unique birds left in the world.

FANCY FIDO 

A dog dressed in heart-shaped sunglasses and a wig attends Pets Taipei 2012, a four-day event. 

TINY HYRAXES  

A baby hyrax stands around his enclosure at the Virginia Zoo. Hyraxes are small, heavy-set mammals from Africa and the Middle East. 

CARIBBEAN CHICK 

A Caribbean flamingo chick sits at her mom's feet and watches the goings-on around her at Stone Zoo in Massachusetts.
