NO BACKBONE NO PROBLEM
Like other crabs, these little critters do not have backbones. They are invertebrates. They protect their soft bodies within their gastropod shells. They generally are small and can fit in the palm of your hand, but can grow to be much bigger. They come in a variety of colors, but are typically a reddish color. Many hermit crabs have purple spots as well as other patterns on their shells. As hermit crabs grow, they continue to find larger shells to help accommodate their increasing size. (Hermit Crabs)
