Dog Finds Missing Autistic Boy
the daily dish
Scotty Meyer, a 5-year-old boy with autism who went missing in Wisconsin last week, was found by an 8-year-old Golden Retriever named Autumn.
According to WCCO-TV, Scotty disappeared from the house while the family's air conditioning was being repaired.
More than 500 volunteers helped the Meyer family search for Scotty throughout the neighborhood and in the wooded areas near their Oak Grove home.
The morning after Scotty went missing, Autumn the Golden Retriever found the boy half a mile away from his home, along a bluff by the Mississippi River.

Autumn's owner, Jason Moser, was ecstatic to see his dog had found Scotty. Moser told WCCO that Scotty immediately grabbed his water bottle and started drinking as Moser yelled for help and called 911.
Sheriff Nancy Hove said the bluff had been repeatedly searched, but it must have been Autumn's sharp nose that located Scotty.

I have son with Autism and are min pin looks out for him as if he was her own pup. So dogs are sometimes by far smarter than humans. And as for you aragent jerks who have nothing nice to say about Gods Angels then keep it to yourselves. Weren't you taught manners not ignorance ! Well thank you Autumn and your owner for finding Gods Angel Scotty. And for Scotty and family maybe a therapy dog will help keep him save it works for my son who is only 20 months. Ok well best of luck glad he is home safe and sound!

Scotty, and all others that could wander, should be wearing an RFID bracelet or device. He would have been found in minutes. Even dogs have chips and locating devices available.

July 06 2012 at 4:47 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHaving a 7 year old granddaughter with Autism, this story is especially close to my heart.
July 06 2012 at 4:45 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyMy biggest fear is that she may wander away and not be able to communicate to anyone where she lives or who her mommy and daddy are. Every day I ask her the question.
What's your name, where do you live and what's your phone number? She answers correctly every time. God bless that wonderful dog and his owner for being out there. I can understand why the police may have missed him. I sometimes call out to my granddaughter and she doesn't answer me. So, he may have been right under their nose but he didn't let his presence be known. Good job everyone!
It is very nice to see that this little guy was found safe......most times the media will not post such good things......so it's refreshing......

Jon, please don't reproduce.

So happy he was found. Dogs are awesome and all deserve a good life.

For now, please refrain from posting. Nice to see a positive ending to a missing child for once. WTG Autumn
