Uggie Cements Paw Prints in Hollywood Walk of Fame

Flanked by canine greats Lassie and Rin Tin Tin, Uggie made dog history this week by cementing his paw prints in front of Hollywood's Grauman's Chinese Theater. According to Gawker, the adorable Jack Russel Terrier from "The Artist" is the first pooch to ever receive this honor.


Sadly, this landmark moment also finalizes Uggie's retirement from the biz. After experiencing neurological issues that cause uncontrollable shaking, Uggie has chosen to get some well-deserved R & R.

Aside from making a permanent mark in the cement outside the famous theater, Uggie has also left an impression in the hearts of many animal and movie lovers. This is evidenced by Councilman Tom LaBonge's declaration at the event that the day of the ceremony shall now be called "Uggie Day" in all of Los Angeles.

While the fame has been fantastic, Uggie's owner, Omar Van Muller, said the real gift that's come with his dog's rise to the top is the opportunities it's created to spread the word about pet adoption. As an adopted dog himself, Uggie has proved that with just a little luck and talent, any animal can go from shelter pet to superstar.
