It's no secret that many celebrities are big animal lovers. What is surprising is some of the critters that stars keep as pets. Take a look at some of the interesting animals celebs have befriended over the years.

    MONKEY MAN

Michael Jackson and his chimpanzee Bubbles were the talk of the red carpet during the '80s. Many mocked the eccentric singer for bringing a primate companion to functions, but Jackson shrugged off the criticism, often dressing himself and Bubbles in matching outfits. Bubbles is now peacefully living out his days at an animal sanctuary in Florida. (New York Daily News)

    LOVE THAT DOVE

Infamous fighter Mike Tyson has a not-so-tough infatuation with an unusual animal: pigeons. Tyson has been taking in pigeons as pets since he was 11 years old. His love for the bird and the sport of pigeon racing is so all-consuming that Animal Planet filmed a show about it called "Taking on Tyson." (Entertainment Weekly)

    WALK ON THE WILD SIDE

Paris Hilton is known for having a rotating parade of pets, the strangest probably being her kinkajou, Baby Luv. The relationship between the heiress and the endangered rainforest mammal was brief. Hilton surrendered Baby Luv after it bit her, and authorities informed the star socialite it's illegal to keep a kinkajou as a pet. (Washington Post)
