It's no secret that many celebrities are big animal lovers. What is surprising is some of the critters that stars keep as pets. Take a look at some of the interesting animals celebs have befriended over the years.
MONKEY MAN
Michael Jackson and his chimpanzee Bubbles were the talk of the red carpet during the '80s. Many mocked the eccentric singer for bringing a primate companion to functions, but Jackson shrugged off the criticism, often dressing himself and Bubbles in matching outfits. Bubbles is now peacefully living out his days at an animal sanctuary in Florida. (New York Daily News)

In real life, Kristen Stewart chooses wolves over vampires. The "Twilight" actress is the proud owner of a wolfdog named Jack. Stewart admits that owning a wolfdog may sound a little scary, but swears that Jack is one sweet pup and is legal to own.

LOVE THAT DOVE
Infamous fighter Mike Tyson has a not-so-tough infatuation with an unusual animal: pigeons. Tyson has been taking in pigeons as pets since he was 11 years old. His love for the bird and the sport of pigeon racing is so all-consuming that Animal Planet filmed a show about it called "Taking on Tyson." (Entertainment Weekly)

WALK ON THE WILD SIDE
Paris Hilton is known for having a rotating parade of pets, the strangest probably being her kinkajou, Baby Luv. The relationship between the heiress and the endangered rainforest mammal was brief. Hilton surrendered Baby Luv after it bit her, and authorities informed the star socialite it's illegal to keep a kinkajou as a pet. (Washington Post)

HUNKY HOG OWNER
While George Clooney may have a playboy reputation, he has had at least one true love in his life: Max the pot-bellied pig. Clooney originally adopted Max for then-girlfriend Kelly Preston, but kept Max after they split. Sadly, Max passed away in 2006, after a long and lavish life. (USA Today)

Tori Spelling has a host of pets, including snakes, goats and pigs. But the most fashionable and weirdest of the actress' animals has to be Coco the silkie chicken. The fuzzy breed is known for it's wonderful temperament, and it shows. Spelling has been spotted toting her stylish chicken while out and about on multiple occasions. (People Pets)

Vanilla Ice has interesting taste in haircuts and animals. The rapper owns a wallaroo named Bucky Buckaroo. Wallaroos are marsupials that are between the size of a kangaroo and a wallaby. Leonardo DiCaprio made a life-long commitment when he bought a sulcata tortoise from a reptile breeder. The slow-moving-pet can live to be 80 years old. DiCaprio asked the breeder for the biggest tortoise he had, which was 38 pounds, but the tortoise could grow to weigh as much as 200 pounds. (TMZ)

Bunnies may be the main animal that pops into your head when you hear the name Hugh Hefner, but the Playboy mansion is home to plenty of other animals.
