Justin Silver Says: "A dog that is 1 year old is still a puppy and valuable. Unless your vet is strongly suggesting the medication, I would not have the dog on medication. If the dog is only a year old, I am almost positive the dog does not need to be on medication at such a malleable age, despite what happened to him in the shelter.
I have worked with lots of abused dogs. I would reach out to the other behaviorists in your area and maybe you could even find people with different methodologies and different schools of thought. In my experience, I have never seen a dog that young need to be put down for something like an aggression problem. I just can’t imagine that needing to be the case."
Q- I have a puppy who was shy, did shy dog class and is now a rock star BUT she will not pee outside. She was on a road trip with us recently for 12 hours ... We stopped constantly, but she never would go. We stopped on grass, we placed pee pads down, and she waited until we were in a hotel room to pee. What can we do?
Justin, first of all, I want you to know my family loves your show and we wish Dogs in the City would return to CBS!!! Good quality programing. We have just adopted our first family dog. He is an Airdale mix, very silly and he knows it. My son tries to remember some of the techniques from your show. We need to teach him manners. Any chance you would do an episode here in Flower Mound TX? We are looking at training schools and trying to pick the right one for us. We could sure use your help!! All the best Cheryl Hogan

Hi Justin, thanks for the wonderful information about dogs. I love your show. Here's my question, " my husband & I have a parting of the ways when it comes to choker chains for my pit mix dogs. They are smart & very active. I say no chains around their necks! What do you think?
Please Help! My son has an almost 9 month old pug. We got her when she was 5 1/2 months old. She will not be potty trained. I have tried everything I know and she just goes where ever and when ever she wants. She is crate trained and have used that mostly to train her. Use treats and praise when she does go outside, but she just doesn't seem inclined to hold it at all, both pee and poop. What can we do? Appreciate any tips
