50 surfing dogs battled it out on San Diego's waves to win the 7th Annual Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog Competition benefitting the ASPCA over the weekend. Thousands of spectators flocked to Imperial Beach to witness the talented dogs surf alongside their proud owners. Although fun to watch, these pooches meant business and the spirit of competition was running strong.
Throughout the day, confident dogs of different sizes were divided into three competitive heats. Abbie Girl, an Australian Kelpie, held her head high as the winner of Heat One (small dogs). Richochet, ASPCA Dog of the Year and professional service animal, won her heat for large dogs. In the tandem heat, Zoey, a Jack Russell Terrier, won with her owners Scott and Tyler Chandler surfing by her side.
While there were only three official champions, all the canines left as winners on Saturday: they broke three Guinness Book of World Records, including the most dogs surfing on a board at once (18, to be exact).

You all sound like a bunch of tree hugging morons. Dogs will do anything with a confident master. If my Lab had fingers she would be flipping you off while she's riding my Harley and many other fun machines you would be afraid of. Surf on great surf dogs.

I don't think these dogs looked abused in any way. They are out there having a good time at the beach. They don't appear to be fearful to me. Stop projecting your fears onto animals that you don't even know! They probably love this special fun event.
