Meet Enzo, the 378-Pound Bengal Tiger 'House Cat'

the daily dish More on PawNation: Bengal Tiger, Cats, Exotic, Weird
In a lot of ways, Enzo is like a typical house cat. He snuggles up on the couch, claws on furniture, obsesses over cat food and is loved dearly by his family members. But there's one not-so-typical thing that sets Enzo apart from other pet cats: he's a Bengal tiger.

Enzo's owners, Michael Jamison and Jackie Smith, brought him into their South African home when he was just a 9-week-old cub. Now he eats 11 pounds of meat every day.

While critics are quick to judge Michael and Jackie's decision to house a tiger in their home, they know that Enzo isn't an ordinary pet. Jamison told The Sun, "He is happy living with us -- but we have to remember he is still a tiger."

Besides, Enzo isn't the only object of Michael and Jackie's animal affection. They own 14 dogs, too.

Yes, it looks like he has a wonderful home and loving caretakers, but wild animals do not belong in peoples' homes. They will always be wild, and mark my words, one of these people will be either severely hurt or killed in the future. There should be a world-wide ban on owning wild animals.

In the old AFRICA USA compound once owned by Ralph Helfer - (Now Tippi Hedron) - the animals were love trained and enjoyed playing with the trainers, BUT Rajah, the tiger was capable of killing or seriously injuring anyone during play. So was Clarence the (Cross-eyed) lion - who I don't think would ever had hurt anyone knowingly - once injured a trainer, even though Clarence was just in a playful mood and having fun. These all -too well meaning people are playing too. Playing with fire.

maybe he can start a tiger clan kinda like the Tiger Temple in Burma. And then people can come and find out that there is a way for people and big cats to coexist. because people cannot keep ignoring the big cats.

The tiger will eventually kill someone if left in close contact with people. History has proven this to be so. They did an amazing thing raising this beautiful creature, but now that he's a year old, it's time to move on with him before someone is killed or maimed.

Tigers are cute as pets until they enter puberty and become entirely unmanageable. Eventually this tiger will engage in a behavior known as "possessing" in which it will grab a small item similar to a tiger kitten. If any other animal (man included) attempts to take the possessed item the tiger will attack to defend it. If the tiger possesses a fur coat, or a pet dog, or a baby you will be hard pressed to get the item back without serious injury. If the tiger possesses an item and you do not recognize the behavior you may innocently attempt to grab it and wind up dead or injured. This is when people call in professionals to remove the tiger.
