A quintuplet of arctic wolf pups explored their habitat at the Knuthenborg Safaripark in Denmark for the first time this week, according to ZooBorns. The wild cuties were born on May 7, but had stayed snuggled with mother in their den until now.

PUP PONDERINGS
The zoo workers were unsure exactly how many pups their mother wolf had birthed, but were overjoyed to see five heads peek out. Five is a rather large litter for this species. The zoo was expecting three.

SAVING THEIR SPECIES
When it comes to arctic wolf pups, the more the merrier. The animal is considered very endangered, and these new members are an important and adorable boost to the species' population.
-
I'LL PROTECT YOU
Arctic wolves are endangered due to poachers hunting the animal for their beautiful, soft pelts. Luckily, these newborns' pelts will see only loving strokes and licks from their mother.
-
WE ARE FAMILY
If these little guys look familiar, it's because they're closely related to the more common and widespread grey wolf. The grey wolf makes its home on three different continents, while the arctic wolf can be found only in the far reaches of Canada and Greenland.

TEAM MOM
Knuthenborg Safaripark has high hopes for their wolf mom and her team of five. Zoo workers say mother wolves that produce bigger broods usually possess better parenting skills.

Beautiful animals. Being Native American, we have known for a long time the true nature of wolves. They are not the blood thirsty beasts that history has made them to be. They are fiercely loyal to their pack, mates and young. They are loving and attentive parents. Humankind could learn a lesson from these majestic spirits of the woods.

So why don't you volunteer yourself to make the world smaller? Everyone who talks about over-population has no balls to be the first to self-euthanize... Ironic, right?

June 14 2012 at 9:50 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYeah, they will save the species, let it multiply and set it free. Then the locals will murder them because they think they are eating their livestock....... Cant win.......... So sad for wild animals that are confined......
