ANIMAL FOSTER MOM

Cleopatra, a Shar Pei, feeds two baby tigers in the Black Sea resort of Sochi in southern Russia. The baby tigers' mother refused to feed them, so Cleopatra decided to step in as a foster mom. 

CELEBS LOVE FAT CATS 

Edie Falco hosted last night's "Second Annual Performance for the Animals" and posed for a pic with the New York City's fattest cat, SpongeBob.

COW GUARD

A white stork with its baby storks rest in a nest while they are guarded by a cow in a field in southwestern France.

POOL PLUNGE

Detroit Zoo recently welcomed three new North American river otters. The pups were born to 9-year-old mother Whisker and 6-year-old father Lucius. The babies are getting used to their new surroundings, especially the awesome pool.

BEAUTIFUL BIRD

A colorful parrot spreads its wings in the wilderness. We wish we looked that pretty stretching our arms. 

SEAL'S GOT TALENT

A seal balances a ball painted in Greece's national flag colors during a UEFA Euro 2012 football championships promotion at Dusit Zoo in Bangkok. 

TURTLE GOODBYE PARTY 

A sea turtle makes its way back to the Mediterranean Sea after being set free by the Israeli Sea Turtle Rescue Centre in a small town south of Tel Aviv. His dog friend was there to bid him farewell. 

CUB CUTIES

A pair of 2-month-old lion cubs look as adorable as they can be in a room at the Kenya Wildlife Services headquarters in Nairobi. 

WELCOME, KID

The Los Angeles Zoo recently welcomed new desert bighorn sheep into their family. The baby lambs will be joining a family of five adult females, one adult male and one male kid.

A grey egret protects her newborn chicks in her nest at the Panbazar area on the banks of the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati, a small town in Northern India.

A baby wild cat plays with its mother inside the enclosure at Zoo Brno in the Czech Republic. Look at their gorgeous green eyes!

WELCOME, ISRAELA!

Israel's Ramat Gan Zoological Center welcomed Israela, the zoo's first-born Somali wild ass foal. According to ZooBorns, the Somali wild ass is seriously endangered with only 350 wild individuals remaining in its native Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea. 

ALL HAIL ANNE! 

Anne the elephant celebrated Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee with a refreshing melon treat. She is one of the few animals at England's Longleat Safari Park who was alive in 1952 during the queen's coronation

RACCOON EYES

An observant raccoon stares down his visitors at the zoo of Amneville in eastern France. Who needs security guards when you've got this watchful raccoon?

R.I.P. BABY GORILLA

After three short months, Pittsburgh's main attraction, a baby male gorilla, died unexpectedly. He was the first gorilla born at the zoo in over a decade. 

RED PANDA PERCH

A red panda perches atop a branch at a zoo in France. He probably wants to get a better view of who's coming to see him.

BABY BIRDS

Wide-eyed baby hawks observe their surroundings curiously in their pen. We wonder what it looks like from their tiny perspective.

THE DASCHUND U.N. 

A dachshund playing the role of a Russian delegate is sheltered from the rain during Bennett Miller’s "Dachshund U.N." performance outside the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, Australia. 47 specially recruited dachshunds represented different nations and the utopian ideals of the United Nations. 

BIRD WATCHING BIRD 

A fawn breasted birillant perches on top of a branch to check out its surroundings at the private reserve of Paz de las Aves near Nanegalito, Ecuador. Ecuador is a paradise for bird watching since it has 1600 species.

SQUIRREL SPY 

A squirrel pops its head out at the National Biodiversity Institute in Costa Rica. He is preparing for tomorrow's celebration of World Environment Day.

IGUANA CROSSING 

An iguana stops to pose for the camera as it crosses a path to grab its lunch.

TINY TOAD

A baby Kihansi spray toad sits atop one of its parent at the Bronx Zoo. Sadly, you no longer can find these creatures in their natural habitat, but it is at least fortunate the endangered species can still be seen in zoos.
