Detective Hank Olszyk, who has experience with snakes, carefully removed the reptile from the grate, placed it in a paper bag and later surrendered it to Animal Control officers. Police believe the ball python, which is a common snake to have as a pet, was released by its owner who didn't want the animal anymore.
