Waking from a coma, John Allen's first worry was not "How did I get here?" but "Where is my dog?" According to Dogster, three months after suffering a severe bike accident with his dog Lady Marie, Allen and his canine best friend were finally reunited.

Over the past year, Allen has experienced quite a bit of tough luck, losing everything in a house fire. His dog, Lady Marie, has been the one positive constant, but recently even that was put at risk.

Three months ago, Allen was riding down Mississippi's Highway 61 on a bicycle with a trailer carrying Lady Marie attached to the back. On the trailer, several signs were posted reading, "Louisiana to Michigan" and "Broke - Hungry - Lost Everything in a House Fire." While pedaling down the busy road, Allen's bicycle and trailer were hit by a passing car when the driver fell asleep behind the wheel.

The impact of the accident was so strong it sent Allen flying into the middle of the street and Lady Marie running in fear. State troopers quickly responded to the crash, calling in a medical team and helicopter to have the man airlifted to the nearest hospital. Dealing with Allen's serious injuries, which left him in a coma, medics were amazed that the man didn't scream in pain, but instead expressed deep concern over his dog.

Worried that there might be an injured pet lost along the bustling highway, officials requested assistance from a local shelter. Sandy Williams, director of the Tunica Animal Shelter went out to the scene of the accident and soon discovered a frightened Lady Marie limping not too far away.

Aside from an injury on one paw, Williams said the loyal mutt was in good physical condition, but emotionally she was hurting. Terrified by the accident, Lady Marie was even more confused when she came back to the bike and trailer and couldn't find Allen. Williams decided to bring the dog back to the shelter, treat her injury and hope for the best.

Once Allen healed and awoke from his coma, he was hurting for his dog. He began immediately asking about his beloved companion and was shown pictures of the pooch at the Tunica Animal Shelter to prove she was alive and well. Finally, after three long months of waiting, worrying and healing, Allen and Lady Marie were reunited.

No doubt! A dog's love is the MOST loyal love in the whole world! God Bless Sandy Williams and the wonderful Highway Patrol officer that thought enough of Allen to call her out to help look for Lady!!

Dogs do not care if we live in a mansion or under the bridge- they just want to be with us and love us- I love them so

If they would have brought the dog to his bed, he probably woke from his coma sooner.
