After Halloween, there's only one holiday our canine compadres look forward to most. Here's a hint: it involves large sombreros and bottomless dogaritas. After all, you don't have to be a human or a native of Mexico to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. This year, it's going to the dogs, and they've been waiting for this fiesta. Take a look at these festive Fidos who can't wait to get the party started. Ole!

BLOCK PARTY
It was a well-known fact that Cheech and Chong threw the most legendary Cinco de Mayo fiestas in the neighborhood every year.
-
SOLO SOMBRERO
Sadly, Felipe was not in the know and accidentally threw his party the same night as Cheech and Chong. Fiesta FAIL.
-
VIVE LA MEXICO!
Once a year, Pierre the French Bulldog casts off his beret and scarf and slaps on his poncho and sombrero.
-
PARTY NAP
What rhymes with fiesta? Siesta.
-
PIMPED-OUT PUG
Paris the Pug saved up her allowance all year to bejewel her sombrero for the parade. So fun and flirty, Paris!
-
DISAPPOINTED DOG
Clarence the Chihuahua was appalled that his human friend showed up with sunflowers to the party. Everyone knows dahlias are Mexico's national flower. Duh!
-
BULLDOG BLITZED
No matter how many Cinco de Mayo festivities Bob the Bulldog attends, he never seems to learn his dogarita limit.
-
PINK PARTIER
Terrence the Terrier mix was a little disappointed he waited so long to buy his sombrero. The only one left at the 99-cent store was pink and extra small.
-
BOXER BUSTED
Buster the Boxer was caught red-pawed picking through the pinata candy the night before the celebration.
-
BIGGER IS BETTER
Grace lived by one rule when it came to Cinco de Mayo: the bigger the brim, the better the sombrero, and the better the sombrero, the bigger the fun.

Pierre isn't a French Bulldog, he's a Boston Terrier! And he looks like a shorter version of my Boston.

May 05 2012 at 7:31 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyMine, Playa and Carmen---Playa is AKC--I paid a MINT for her--and Carmen-- a 3/4th Ch I got for 100 bucks--are both now 12; NEITHER look at all like the ratty ones above--I cannot STAND ratty-looking, tea-cup types--they should NEVER have been allowed to have been bred such as that--animal cruelty. My babes are both around 13 pounds and NOT overweight! Dopey AKC standards state a Chi should never exceed six pounds--please explain Playa, then--a most beautiful and sharp dog--she was over six pounds when I got her, papers and all, at eight months! BTW, Chis live longer than any other breed of dog out of 69 surveyed--20 years or MORE!!
