Newborn Fawn Cuddles Up on Doorstep
This is one of the warmest welcomes we've seen. According to NBC's "Today" show, James Chang arrived at his mother's California home to find a tiny fawn snoozing on the welcome mat.
Chang, a photographer, responded to his professional instinct and started filming the baby animal. As he recorded, Chang also called 911, fearing that the unmoving fawn might be injured. He was eventually connected to animal control, who told Chang to sit tight and let the baby be.

The officer on the phone said the fawn was most likely resting and just happened to pick an unconventional napping spot. He also told Chang to look out for the mother, because she was probably keeping a close eye on the little one as well.

Sure enough, after getting off the phone with animal control, Chang spotted the mother across the street babysitting her fawn from afar. About an hour later, the mother deer strolled over to the baby and gave it a quick nudge, letting her child know that it was time get going. The fawn roused itself, unsteadily stood up and began its wobbly newborn walk to the next destination.
