Averaging 2,200 pounds, the ocean sunfish is the heaviest bony fish in the entire world. It mostly feeds on jellyfish, but because its diet is nutritionally poor, the enormous beast consumes large amounts of jellies. You might spot one of these giants in deep, temperate, tropical waters.
The editor should've fact-checked this for obvious errors. # 8 Is a Moray eel, not a fangtooth fish. Everything else was pretty good, though their sturgeon picture sucked, the whole fish looks ridiculous and unreal, not just that belly-shot of a beached and very dead one.
Did you even read the caption? It says "Why are these ominous creatures, both real and imagined, so fascinating to humankind?" so it's fake, they already told you that...
