Bob Barker Pays $880,000 To Fly Elephants To Sanctuary
Famed game show host Bob Barker has once again stepped forward to help animals in need. Barker is spending $880,000 to fly three elephants to a California sanctuary aboard a private cargo plane.
The last remaining elephants at Toronto Zoo; Thika, Iringa and Toka will soon be enjoying sunny weather at the PAWS Sanctuary in San Andreas, California, after concerns mounted that the cold Canadian climate was unsuitable for the animals.

At first the elephants were scheduled to make their journey by truck, but when one of them developed a foot problem that could have made the trip fatal, Barker offered to pay to fly all three of the animals to their new home.

Barker said the elephants "have suffered so much for so long and now they have an opportunity to live the rest of their lives at what has been described as 'elephant paradise.' To think that one of them might not survive the trip in a truck touched my heart and purse strings."

The Performing Animals Welfare Society (PAWS) elephant sanctuary has acres of land for the pachyderms to explore including lakes, hills and flatlands; plus there are other elephants are on hand to meet.
The elephants will be transported in crates inside a Russian cargo jet before May 15.
Barker, who is 88-years young, says he plans to greet the elephants at the sanctuary when they arrive.

I have had a lifelong love for elephants, and it is no wonder that Bob would step up to the plate to help such a creature that will sadly someday no longer be with us due to the ignorance of man. We have a choise as to our future, and with the help of people that can afford to move mountains, I say YEA! I wish that I could do the same as you. Mr Barker, I and hundreds like me thank you for your efforts, and may your personal rewards continue to be great with all that you do for animals. Thank You!

Bob himself would have been a little embarrased that they mentioned it, but it is still wonderful that he did it. We can only hope that more people will step forward if they can and help where needed.

March 29 2012 at 12:11 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIts an excessive amount of money, period! Why even bring it up? Just tell the story, leave the money spent out. Its awesome but no need to mention how much it costs. A good deed is a good deed no matter how much one spends. When you throw money into the story it ruins it somewhat for me. Enough said!
