Crocheting bonnets and booties for babies is so passé. At least, that's the thinking behind a new book from a pair of princess-approved (Lady Diana was a fan) British knitwear designers. If Sally Muir and Joanna Osborne have their way, we'll all be crafting purl-stitched doppelgangers of our pups from their fun how-to tome, "Knit Your Own Dog: Easy-to-Follow Patterns for 25 Pedigree Pooches." The duo, who've appeared on Martha Stewart's show, set aside their knitting needles to chat with Paw Nation about their playful project.

How did you meet?
We were introduced through Sally's brother, who suggested we might get along since we both had knitting machines. We had drinks and got on so well that we decided to start up a business. We've both knitted all our lives; I learned from my mother, and Sally was taught to knit by a nun at her school. We just fell into it by accident, so I don't think either of us envisaged making a living by knitting. After we started our business, we were taken by surprise when we opened the newspaper and saw a photograph of Princess Diana wearing one of our jumpers. It's now in the permanent collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, so it will live on long after we do.
