Animals Rule the Runway at Fashion Week

But now we can share with you what haute couture bloggers and glossy mag editrixes were all agog over -- the designer animal debuts at Fashion Week. Fortunately, the threads sashaying down the catwalk would have made even PETA happy. Rather than roll out real fur, icons like Anna Sui and Isaac Mizrahi opted for faux and live animal accessories.
Anna Sui's adorable knitted cat-head jacket, complete with elegant whiskers (above), was just one of the fabulous feline hats that the designer included in her fall 2011 collection. The fun, furry accents aren't just show pieces, either: Word has it that they'll retail for about $205.
High-impact color was the theme of Isaac Mizrahi's fall 2011 collection (below), including yellow- and blue-hued poodles and a hot pink pup who stole the show. Some of the models even sported poodle-esque poufs.
