Jesse JamesJesse James with one of his many dogs. Bauer-Griffin

Jesse James, owner of West Coast Choppers and ex-husband of Sandra Bullock, has added a new member to his family: a French bulldog named Pierre, reports Star Magazine. The dog was a gift to his daughter Chandler.

James is known to be a devoted dog owner. Last year, when his pit-bull puppy named CinnaBun went missing, he offered a $5,000 reward for her return and fortunately, she was found, safe and sound. James also has another pit bull named Mr. T.

James recently moved his family from California to Austin, Texas, supposedly to be closer to Bullock. We wonder what James's latest lady, Kat Von D, thinks about the move -- and the new addition to the clan?

Is that the new name for 'pit bull'?

michelle#2 michelle8-26-2010 @ 2:53PM

You obviously don't know much about breeds. The dog in the picture is not only not a French bull dog, but is also not a puppy of any breed.

Paula#3 Paula8-26-2010 @ 4:14PM

Who really cares. He openly admits owning pits so do you think he would care to say this one was one too? And Dee Cleve your an idiot!!! Pitbulls are not dangerous. Its stupid people like you that continue to give this breed a bad name.

Sheila#4 Sheila8-26-2010 @ 4:34PM

It doesn't say the picture is a French Bulldog. The caption says Jesse James with one of his many dogs. He already owns several pit bulls.
You people should read before you go off on a tangent!

Diane#5 Diane8-26-2010 @ 5:12PM

I just hope he takes care of this new puppy because I have a strong feeling his new lady will care less about it. All we need is to hear this one was stolen too. With all the publicity this man gets the poor little baby will need its own personal body guard!!

Marilyn#6 Marilyn8-27-2010 @ 2:02AM

Paula you are right. I love pits, live in NYC and there are wonderful, gentle, rescue pits all over town. Mean???? If someone starved me and used me for target practice - I'd be pretty pissed also!

Dee Cleve#7 Dee Cleve8-26-2010 @ 2:36PM

French bulldog, my ass. It's another pit bull. That man is irresponsible. There are children in the home. Pit bulls have been known to turn on their families after years of tlc. They are very efficient killing machines.

Kayla#8 Kayla8-26-2010 @ 2:47PM

Not all pit bulls are "killing machines" You should really do more research. Any dog can bite. People should really get more educated on pit bulls before they go bad mouthing them just because of what they hear or see on tv. Of course youre not gonna hear about the good ones out there.

Jeff O#9 Jeff O8-26-2010 @ 3:23PM

Hey Kayla, although you are correct that ALL pitbulls are not "killing machines" it is fact that this breed was bred and continues to be bred for their aggression, powerful bite, and overall fighting temperment. Due to the strength of their jaw, the locking attributes of it, they have been bred over and over again for fighting! They should not be around children and a responsible owner would think twice about having them around company in general. They are unpredictible, why anyone would even tempt fate and have these animals around children is beyond me.

Julie#10 Julie8-26-2010 @ 3:37PM

Pits often attack other animals, especially smaller ones. This isn't a wive's tale, it's something that has touched my life and other people I know. I agree that other breeds attack, but not as often as pits.

Lita#11 Lita8-26-2010 @ 3:55PM

Kayla, in your response to Dee Cleve, you say that any dog can bite. And that is very true. But what you don't seem to realize is that the clamping power of a pit bull's bite is many times greater than all but a few breeds.

Karen#12 Karen8-26-2010 @ 4:02PM

I AGREE with Kayla. Pits are only mean if you train them to be mean. I have a red-nosed Pit and shes harmless. I have a 2 month old grandbaby and i TRUST my pit bull COMPLETELY around her. My dog is very well trained. Shes very obedient! She would protect my grandchild, not harm her. Get your facts straight about Pit Bulls, its ALL IN HOW YOU TRAIN THEM!

Paula#13 Paula8-26-2010 @ 4:23PM

Perhaps you shouldn"t comment on things you know nothing about. Until you have owned a pitbull and raised him the right way, you will never know or understand what wonderful pets they can be. Killing machines? your an idiot

hvnlydestiny#14 hvnlydestiny8-26-2010 @ 4:47PM

I have had pitbulls all my life and I am the mother of a 13,14, 15 and 18 year old children. My pits have nver harmed my children. My first pit Bella lived to be 12 years old passed away after being attacked by a labrador. I was walking Bella on a leash to the mailbox when an unleashed lab came and attacked. Due to Bella's feeble state she succombed to the injuries. We had another pit Eve (my children's second mom) who eventually passed away of old age. We now have a beautiful pit named Lola who is 3 years old who we adopted from the marine base where my husband works where pits and pit mixes were banned and ripped from their homes where people have served thier country and love their dogs like family and now are being made to give them up. She now lives happily with me, my husband, my children, my chihuahua and my pomeranian. These dogs are our family and I take great offense to those who act like pits are the only dogs that attack. I am not saying they are not capable obviously they are animals just like every other dog. But all breeds are capable of harming a person or another dog not just pits.

If you have never owned a pitbull - then you do not have all the facts. Our first Pitbull had epilepsy and would actually walk away from our son prior to the seizure. We currently have our 2nd and 3rd pitbulls and wouldn't trade them for the world. My son who is 9 loves these dogs and they love him.

Any dog can turn on an owner at anytime. It is the way everyone portrays these dogs, including the media. They do not report on all attacks. Also because they are breed so much there are many more that end up in shelters and many that end up being adopted. If you compare the number of dogs versus bites - I am sure that it is not much different.

My brother has two yorkshire terriers and one of them is the meanest dog I have ever seen. Has bitten many of those who have come in contact with including the owners. If you don't know how to raise them - then you shouldn't own them - any dog.

I am currently owned by 4 rescued Pit Bulls, and there isn't one killing machine among them. :P
They were socialized w/all types of different people and animals early on, and I couldn't ask for a better bunch of companions. It IS true that some Pit Bulls can develope dog-aggressive tendencies, but human aggression is never a desirable trait in this breed. It all comes down to commitment and responsibility on the owners part, IMO.
Leave ANY pet unattended, or to his/her own devices... and trouble is sure to follow.

Les Stace#17 Les Stace9-02-2010 @ 2:39PM

It has been proven genetically pit bulls are a killing machine waiting to go off! You ever hear of a couple beagles killing a child? Think about it!

Jamie#18 Jamie9-02-2010 @ 4:57PM

Jeff O- I surley hope God does not judge you based on your neighbor's mistakes when you die....most certainly that is what you are doing to the Pit Bull breed! I have raised Pit Bulls all my life and not once have I EVER bred them to be aggressive! Matter of fact we have only breed and bought for docility!!! I currently have a 7month old male who weighs 55lbs, he is an inside dog who sleeps with my 8 yr old son and runs and hides when someone rings our doorbell!! Oh but wait they are bred for their aggression, I say HA HA your a fool!! DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! Chow-Chows are most likely to bite with no warning!! Just one question for you, have you or any of your close family ever been bitten by a Pit Bull?

lisa#19 lisa8-26-2010 @ 3:00PM

Please please. Somebody please tell me how this unbelieveably indiotic worthless "story" was published here. I did not even read it, but I'm going to bet that there are references to this guy's ex-wife which has nothing to do with pets! WHO CARES?

luvmyanimals#20 luvmyanimals8-26-2010 @ 2:44PM

The caption under the picture says Jesse with one of his many pets (CinnaBun from the looks of it)... I'm sure we'll see a picture of the new dog soon
