The Humane Society of the United States rescued over 200 poodles last weekend from unsanitary and inhumane conditions in a Tennessee puppy mill. The fact that those animals were saved is enough to put pep in any dog lover's step. And while we're sure all of the pooches were thrilled to be delivered from their hard knock lives, one puppy in particular just couldn't seem to rein in his happy feet. This video -- shot by the HSUS while unloading the rescued dogs to a facility in Chicago -- shows that, just like us people, sometimes a dog gets so excited that there ain't nuthin else he can do but dance.

this video is cute if you know nothing about dogs but as a dog trainer and rescuer i know different . Not to upset anyone the dog isn't dancing, its a behavior it has developed when in the puppy mill. Animals who are not given a proper amount of enrichment develop neurotic or abnormal behaviors are that repetitive, invariant, ... and seemly pointless. this becomes detrimental to their health and well being.
Its sad that the terrible people running the puppy mill causes the dogs to have these issues.

My dog and my cat came from animal shelters. I think ANY breeding of dogs or cats is irresponsible when there are millions of them being put to death every year. Until the homeless pet population is under control it should be banned, period. And I don't buy the "dog show circuit" that's something that can be lived without. How about a shelter dog or cat show? I volunteered at a shelter for quite some time and it was disgraceful and sad the number of unwanted or unadoptabe pets that were euthanized on a daily basis. Of course what's to be expected when there are people that pop out babies like baby mills.

Ok I understand there are a lot of animals that end up euthanised but I do not understand why America does not come up with an alternative way to find homes for them instead of putting them down. Canada has the same problem with large quanities of animals needing homes but do not put down near as many animals. They are able to get them into loving homes. They are not spending a lot more money doing it either. Maybe we (America) needs to take a serious look at our methods, guidelines and policies to see what we can do to get these little sweet hearts into homes instead of their graves.

We got 'Louie' a short hair terrier from animal rescue in January. I only wish we had more room so we could have taken another. It is such a mitzvah to give a good home to a loving animal; and part of the blessing is we receive more than we give.
