We once had a Weimaraner -- he was so cute as a puppy and a thoroughly lovable dog as an adult. But he was dumber than dirt! He just did everything on instinct and was always in trouble, but we couldn't get mad at him because he would just cuddle up and give you the saddest look. He knew when he did something wrong after he did it, because he would hide his head under a towel or blanket, I guess he figured if he couldn't see us, we couldn't see him. A great dog, but D-U-M-B!

They certainly are adorable!

They are LT... I've always wanted to have one as a pet, no croppings needed... I love their eyes, and the silver tone...absolutely beautiful!

I do not understand why the tails have to be cut off. UNNECESSARY pain, and useless outcome. Stupid "People" game. Too bad.

people crop there tails and sometimes ears for the safety of the dog. according to what they are for such as dobermans are for protection so they have tight skin and slippery fur and we crop there ears and tail so its harder for someone to grip when the dog is protecting you and the dog doesn't get hurt

To carla, as a Veterinary student almost finished with school I can tell you that (excluding a medical necessity such as trauma or cancer) there is no reason to crop a dogs ears or tails. It does not, "tighten their skin so no one can grab them". The only reason some veterinarians still do these barbaric and inhumane procedures is because the breeding associations still include it as part of the breed standard. Fortunately, even some of the breed associations are now starting to call these "optional". Hopefully they, and the AVMA come out and flat out ban the procedures unless it is medically necessary. I for one will not perform the procedures unless medically warranted. Furthermore, if you want "protection", get a gun.

We have a rescued Weim girl, LuLu. She is the sweetest and most beautiful Weim. She is spoiled and we love her with all our hearts. If we even look at her with anything but approval, she pouts!! She is the BEST dog that we could ever hope for.

My weim Shayla is either stretched out on the couch with me or trying to figure out what she can do next.......we love coming home to her because she gets so excited you can hear her halfway down the block! Like others said it's so hard to get mad at her when she does something wrong and sometimes I just marval at the fact that she was smart enough to get herself there.....what a curious dog! I can't wait to get another someday! Just remember (this goes for almost all dogs) weims are people dogs that loved to be played with and have TONS of attention....these are not dogs to leave at home all day! They will do anything for the people that care for them!
