Has fame already changed Susan Boyle? The singer once made headlines for being a bit of a crazy cat lady. These days she's so busy traveling the globe that she's moved her beloved cat, Pebbles, out of her house, TVNZ reports.

Susan Boyle rocketed to fame after stunning the world with her voice on the U.K. television show "Britain's Got Talent." But last summer, Boyle had a breakdown over her cat Pebbles, the Daily Mail reported at the time. After throwing a tantrum in a Liverpool hotel, in which the confused singer screamed repeatedly that she needed her cat, 48-year-old Boyle missed a concert and was ordered by doctors to get some rest.

Just look at Boyle now. These days the jet-setting vocalist is touring the world, and has moved Pebbles out of her home in West Lothian, Scotland, and into the home of a retired accountant in London, TVNZ reports.

According to that report, Boyle's mentor, Simon Cowell, helped find the cat temporary new digs, since Boyle was so rarely home. Her new caregiver, 76-year-old Pamela Eaton-Browne, gets $9 per day to care for the cat, according to TVNZ. The 11-year-old Pebbles has been living with Eaton-Browne since July, and is lavished daily with treats like premium wet food, chicken and fish.

With Boyle and her cat in the news yet again, fans are jumping to defend her. "There is no need to blow this out of proportion -- Pebbles is temporarily living with retired accountant Pamela Eaton-Browne whilst Susan is travelling all the time," notes the Susan Boyle fan site.

What do you think? Is this a case of a cat abandoned for fame and fortune, or is Susan Boyle once again the victim of media scrutiny overload?

She's doing what she needs to do for her and her cat -- making sure it's well taken care of, instead of dumping it out on the road someplace -- like the kitten we just found wandering around -- 6 month old female -- and used to people -- need I say more? We planned on keeping her and called for the necessary shots and surgery and were told good that we were keeping her -- as the shelters are overloaded from people abandoning their pets -- good for Susan -- and yes, media scrutiny overload -- some people need to get a life!

Her cat needs a constant companion. Susan was gone too much so the nicest and most loving thing she could possibly do for her beloved cat is to find a good home for her. If someday Susan decides to stay home all the time I'm sure she would get Pebbles back. But for now thank God she is thinking of the cat's well-being. Good going Simon and Susan.

Does anyone really care anymore?

Nancy#4 Nancy2-10-2010 @ 2:32PM

I agree, who cares !!! the cat has a home and personally I don't care for Susan Boyle

JemGirl73#5 JemGirl732-10-2010 @ 2:33PM

Susan did the right thing the cat is older and wouldn't of liked being on the road all the time, and she got someone looking after it.cats are impenitent but social. She with someone who will care for her tell Susan can come back. at least it not in one of those pet boarding houses with barking dogs and other animals.

I think there's a third possibility, that it was a slow news day and the writer desperately needed a topic.

Singing is good therapy. It's a gift from God. I love to sing my favorite hymns. Cats? Many developed allergies like asthma.... I became a Ms.Boyle's fan
after my former husband gave me her new CD last Christmas! I prefer her voice
to her cat. I have to apologize though.... I was bragging to a friend on the cell phone that my "ex" gave me the CD. Over hearing me he blurted out "It's Susan Boyle!" When I hung up, I asked: "Who then is Sandra Bullock?"
"She is an actress!" he replied. I then said: "I don't know how I got that...."
FYI: I just became a member of a senior ctr here in NE Philly! But I blame
the forgetfulness on a bad habit: sleeping late/lack of sleep and singers need
sufficient sleep & rest.

I agree it must have been a slow news day as you do everyday. The media has made another story where there is none.

Robin#9 Robin2-10-2010 @ 3:08PM

All she did was find the cat a NANNY. She did the right thing.
Look at all the star that leave there kids with nanny's for month's at a time while they work.
Leave Susan alone.

Your title is very misleading. The cat does not have a new home; it's just being boarded in someone's home while the owner is traveling: a loving and wise solution, better than being in a kennel or being carted all over the world and possibly getting lost or ill. There was no need to make it sound as if she doesn't love her cat anymore.

Teru#11 Teru2-18-2010 @ 1:47PM

Susan didn't "abandon" her cat. She made arrangements for Pebbles to be cared for while she's been away, and it sounds like Pebbles is being taken care of very well. If Susan was abandoning her cat, she would have merely left her at an animal shelter.

I THIK SHE DID THE RIGHT THING, IT IS TEMP , THE CAT IS BEING PAMPERED! GOOD FOR HER TO BE DOING WHAT SHE ENJOYS, CATS ARE RESILIANT CRITTERS, CLEAN THEIR BOXES AND FEED THEM, PLAY WITH THEM(AT THEIR COMMAND) I HAVE 2 CATS LOVE THEM ALSO!

jessica#13 jessica2-10-2010 @ 3:01PM

Feed a cat...he's yours. Pebbles may not even want to go home with Susan when she's done traveling. Whoever takes over the feeding becomes first in the cat's heart, at least that's been my experience. Susan is doing what any caring pet owner would do, and she doesn't have to worry about Peb being lonely or not taken care of.

This must be a REALLY REALLY slow news day.
I mean come on now, who really gives a s&%t about this!

Paul#15 Paul2-10-2010 @ 3:27PM

You must give a s&%t - you read the story and responded.

Hooray for Susan Boyle for being a responsible pet owner. It's what I would have done had I been in her place. She demonstrates love mixed with common sense.

Jae Bowen#17 Jae Bowen2-10-2010 @ 3:26PM

The Clintons gave Socks to a good home when it was impossible to keep her so what's the difference with Susan Boyle to do the same thing! They loved their pets enough to find good care for them. I recently babysat for two dogs for a friend of my friends for 5 months while she was recouping from surgery and rehab. It's not an easy task of taking care of other pets and she was faced with the awful consideration of having them "put down" if anything happened to her. I would take them back if something should happen to her in a heartbeat! Ease up people!

i took a cat for my own.. several years ago.. it is an older Female cat, being abused by another cat in the former owner's home..
the cat is a love and a half to me.. she is sweet.. also.. she is 14 yrs old.. I have old furniture..and if she wants to sharpen her claws.. let her have it. I think she is too old to be declawed.. so i won't do that to her..
A cat is perfect for a woman.. i do overnight mini vacations.. all i can afford.
i come home.. she is glad to see me. I would have done the same as Susan Boyle did.. I would get a setter... Kennels aren't the healthiest places for older cats..

Holly#19 Holly2-10-2010 @ 3:50PM

Oh please. This is not newsworthy.Susan is doing the responsible thing any cat loving owner would do - get the cat a sitter, while she is away. End of story that shouldn't even be a story in the first place. This is no big deal.

sarah#20 sarah2-10-2010 @ 3:59PM

Leave her alone! She is doing what is best. What about all the singers who leave their kids and don't think twice about it. She found a loving place in which to leave her cat instead of in a boarding kennel.
