Very few people actually like Jell-O (exceptions: hospitals, college students, and Dr. Cosby).

Well, it turns out we can add monkeys to that short list of Jell-O fans. Zookeepers at the Bronx Zoo recently presented their squirrel monkeys with a batch of the gelatin dessert as a holiday treat. The adorable primates were fascinated by the jelly texture of the "food," but seemed more interested in getting to the more appetizing blueberries within. Watch the video below.

Hey, Jello is a lot of fun to "play" with. I am 62 years old and still like to watch the jello wiggle around etc..when I eat jello, which I do like by the way.

Very Cute. Not mean at all. Keeping them thinking and active is crucial to keeping boredom and possible destructive behavior at bay. Is it mean to give an animal nuts with the shell still on them if they are capable of shelling them? Of course not. Should we take the meat off the bone for the lion, so he doesn't over exert himself? Ridiculous. Wonder if any of the monkeys ended up eating and liking the jello. Very cute video.

Reminds me of the Chicago Bears, and Seattle Seahawks when they're trying to catch a football.

This is just too freakin' cute!! I love this little video. Watching those little monkeys trying to get those darn berries!! Hahaha!

This is probably very engrossing for the monks...Monkies are highly intellegent and they probably like the challange of the Jell-o. If they were frightened there would be a lot more fierce screams and I think they would run from the Jello rather than poking at it...

VERY cute....and yes, the monkeys need such brain stimulation, and in agreement with Deborah, you are NOT supposed to shell nuts for the animals who can shell the nuts themselves- the animals' teeth are designed to NEED to shell the nuts; rodents' teeth are constantly growing in order to accodomate the gnawing. To shell the nuts for them is to deprive them of a physically necessary activity.
NOT cruel at all to make the animals work for their food- some humans need to re-learn that lesson.

EXTREMELY adorable!!!! The way they get so caught-up in the Jell-O, that the berries just roll away. Wow. I couldn't resist just grabbing one, and kissing it's little face (cautiously). lol

They need excitement. I can see how Jell-O provides this for them, as they'd never come across such a substance in the wild. Far from cruel. Deborah said it best.
