We had a Shiba Inu for 16 yrs. She lived to be 18 yrs old. Because she reminded us of a fox we called her "Foxy Lady", "Foxy" for short. I cannot begin to tell all the enjoyment she gave us and all others. she was well known for her gentleness and being as adorable and loving as could be. Great with adults and kids. We had a cat"Peepers" and they were the best buddies. They went for daily walks with my hubby and the two of them looked out for one another. You'd NEVER regret getting one for a pet. Their loyalty will come shining through. Carol

My current Shiba is 9 yrs. old and this past year he's had two knee operations. Sometimes he is pretty lame, but he is on Rimadyl daily and monthly injections of glucousimine. He is just the most outgoing wonderful dog. I take him to the Assisted Living where my mother lives and they just love him. He is more well behaved than the therapy dogs that visit. I lost my first Shiba at 9 yrs old, so I hope I have Bailey as long as you had yours.
