We suppose it must be difficult to keep your daily grind fresh and interesting when you're herding sheep in the wide-open pastures of Wales. In this video, a group of intrepid Welsh shepherds nicknamed the Baaa-studs (wordplay!), come together to plumb the previously unexplored creative possibilities of their ancient craft, all in service of a viral campaign for Samsung. Though the video was admittedly "helped enormously" in postproduction, the Baaa-studs are genuine shepherds, their canvas an actual Welsh hillside, and their medium real sheep.

What an ignorant, unfeeling thing to do to poor, innocent sheep. This is shameful.

PETA = stoopid#22 PETA = stoopid12-13-2009 @ 7:55AM

I suppose shearing them and eating their young is OK then....

Th1nkF1rst#23 Th1nkF1rst12-12-2009 @ 9:16PM

Aileen,

Those "innocent sheep" by now have all probably been digested as chops or roasts, have been made into comfy slippers or gloves and/or been woven into lovely warm sweaters. Those sheep were not raised as "pets" but as an income source for their meat, leather and/or wool. It is "shameful" of you to expect those poor shepherds to be "nice" to dumb animals which they own! Those sheep are barely smart enough to eat and baa, they didn't care either way. But if it makes you feel better and makes you think that you're a more superior human, I guess that lamenting the fate of those sheep is balanced out and excusable due to your utter idiocy!

Mike#24 Mike12-12-2009 @ 11:33PM

ThinkfFirst, I suggest you think again. Your insults are undignified and you have no basis to charge Aileen with selfishness or arrogance. People usually desire to be good, in their conception of the word. It is also clear that you lack knowledge of environmental ethics. Animal rights are neither spurious nor clear-cut. Read the latest from ethicists on the subject, or take courses from a local college or university. Neither our relative might nor our relative intelligence justify our treatment of animals. This may not necessarily mean that the behavior viewed here is unethical, but your righteousness belies your ignorance. Furthermore, you seem to conceive property rights as being of human rights, which, again, is incorrect, as Thomas Jefferson well realized. These are social rights and do not stand immune to other ethical considerations. There's a reason that the torture of animals is widely rejected despite ownership, and it's not for our humanity. This is just beautiful. What ingenuity. Loved this! To those who thought this was a waste of time, ignorant, or fake I wonder what you do with your time. Have you ever read a book? Lol!

cindy#31 cindy12-12-2009 @ 12:24PM

that rocked in every sense thank you

willysaero#32 willysaero12-12-2009 @ 12:49PM

Those of you who think that this is bogus, fake or a waste of time have NEVER owned, trsined or utilized Border Collies to their full potential. On top of that, sheep need excercise just like any living creature and while they are well fed for their intended purposes, using sheep, cattle, geese and other animals on large farms means having BC's as working dogs are a fact of life. As for these shepherds, they gave the world a great view of what man and intelligent beast are capable of. These aren't tricks. This is utilizing the dogs inate sense of herding to its' ultimate and giving a bit of entertainment to the masses. Those of you who sit back complaining about a waste of time ought to get off your butts and get moving like these men and beasts.

You rocked it, Willy! I agree! All those negative twits out there need to rise up off the recliner and take a good dog for a run! Hey, they might even find a life while they're at it!!! LOL

Gary#34 Gary12-12-2009 @ 10:03PM

Lighten up Willie,
The makers of this bit of entertainment even admit to a bit of post production manipulation.
Been around dozens (possibly hundreds!) of BC's and Austrailian Shepards. Good pets and a fine working breed but you need to take a breath and lighten up a bit

IAmSam#35 IAmSam12-12-2009 @ 4:44PM

amen!!

Muviman#36 Muviman12-12-2009 @ 5:38PM

Thank you Gary for pointing out that they used a bit of post-production manipulation, I saw what seemed to suggest that when the sheep created an image of a larger sheep walking. It's apparent that the majority of this clip is not faked, but "digital manipulation" does not necessarily make it fake. Imaginative, entertaining, and relatively harmless to all involved. I wonder when the "Baa-Studs" will do other video games (other than Pong shown), much like a series of other video game re-creations done by volunteers in a theater seating venue? I think it's possible.

bk#37 bk12-12-2009 @ 9:54PM

Willie come on you don't really beleave they made the Mona Lisa or played Pong done a fireworks display spelled out letters or made a giant ewe walk across the hill do ya.If you do your about as smart as sheep dip. It's computer generated son and not very well done at that.I'm sure they were doing this for a local bar joke and never thought anyone would take it to heart.Hate to bust your bubble guy but it's not real.

Jay#38 Jay12-13-2009 @ 4:33AM

Willy, I just want to say.... you are soooo right about Border Collies. I have a beautiful Border Collie/Australlian Shepard mix. She is amazing! She once climb a 6 foot latter with a duck egg in her mount then climbed back down without ever breaking the egg. She also loves to herd my horses and the wild mallard ducks the come to my pond. Those who don't think this is possible are sooooooo wrong! Yes, I agree that there was some computer manipulation that happened here, but those dogs are amazing! I found it entertaining and my son and daughter-in-law are in New Zealand where sheep a very prominent. I think they will enjoy this!

elaine#39 elaine12-12-2009 @ 1:26PM

Absolutely wonderful !! Too bad we Americans are to busy with 2 jobs so we can make the payments on luxuries such as food and housing and those credit cards that we don't have the time to smell the flowers, or in this case, light up the sheep..

John C. Billingsley, Jr.#40 John C. Billingsley, Jr.12-12-2009 @ 1:56PM

I simply don't believe this, It must be computer generated.
