Robinson and her husband, political consultant Craig Snyder, bought Floyd from a K-9 security firm in South Carolina in 2007 after they were frightened by a home break-in. They paid $35,000 for the dog, who received military training in Germany and whose full name is Floyd vom Meierhof. Lopez's husband Marc Anthony had bought the dog for $39,000 in 2005 and had returned him to the company.
According to the Daily News, the new owners' 4-year old daughter rides happily atop Floyd's ample and furry back.
But when it comes to protecting the family, Floyd means business.
"He's under very strict rules of engagement," Snyder told the Daily News. "The training was remarkable." But off-duty, Snyder says, "Floyd acts like a big baby puppy who just wants to be loved."

Thats terrible buy the dog to protect them then when it does they give it back! Cruel...
There is NO smarter dog alive than a German Sheppard... NONE
Looks like Marc Anthony did not know how to treat this dog once he got him
like so many people do...they just get animals and after a while they get tired of them and let them go. So typical American. Nowhere in the world get animals dumped as often... after Christmas than in the USA.
Seems to me that Marc got rid of the dog because of a pending lawsuit. So typical of stereotyping American's with the statement they give their dogs away. We could be in other countries and just eat them.
Poor Dog. Sounds to me as if some lazy-ass stewardess decided to sue J.Lo and hubby in order to get money and for no other reason.
I have a German Shepherd and he is a lover too. With that said he also knows his job as a shepherd. If someone was to make questionable moves towards my family he would do just what he was trained to do and what I want him to do, PROTECT ME!!!! I think this lady see only one thing, dollar signs!!!
i see that the dogs value has decreased over the years i wonder what hes worth now
probably the dog thought the stewardess meant to attack j. lo. i'm sure that was what must have happened. or the stewardess did some care less thing that provoked this highly trained dog into attacking. but what ever the reason, i'm sure the dog was protecting him self or his person. (owner). and unless the stewardess was seriously injured, she should under stand that a guard dog GUARDS, and just let it drop. gee, wish i could some one for a million freakin' bucks....
I don't know the whole story behind the J-Lo/stewardess thing. I do know that the stewardess said the dog attacked her, but I wonder what the stewardess did. Many of these owners don't realize that these dogs are trained to be dangerous, and really shouldn't be around people socially, but I think it's interesting that they gave the dog up when faced with a lawsuit. $39,000 for a dog??? I love German Shepherds, and I love dogs and think they're priceless...but, geez...these people obviously don't know what to do with their money, plus I think they don't know how to handle a dog..
German Shepherds are the best... I have had four of them and each one was loyal, dependable and lovable... I would not have any other breed of dog..
Is anyone else concerned that an animal behavior specialist (Dr. Karen Overall) who claims to be an animal advocate was so quick to throw Floyd under the bus for "headbutting" someone's leg? On a website she claims "[Her] clinical work has at its core the humane treatment of troubled pets and their distressed people". She arrived at the opinion that Floyd was aggressive and endangered humans without seeing the dog. She also advised that the dog needed "counseling". I haven't seen the whole report, but I know that there is always some expert who is willing to say anything for the right price.
