We introduce you to a lot of cute videos of cats on Paw Nation, but sometimes a cute video of a cat is such a cute, unstoppable juggernaut that it makes other "cute" videos boring. The "Suprised Kitty" video on YouTube is more of an overnight sensation than that guy who plays the werewolf in New Moon. On October 13, a YouTube user posted this video of a kitten, lying on her back, expectantly and repeatedly raising her paws in response to someone's playful hands.
Since then, the 17 second video has been watched 8 million times.
After the video was featured on CNN and mentioned by Kristen Bell on Craig Ferguson, fifteen-year-old Rosa, the video's writer, producer, and director, talked to a French journalist at LePost.fr. The kitten's name is Attila Fluff and does not belong to Rosa, but instead belongs to one of her friends. The actual owner of Attila has not yet given a statement about the success of the video. Hopefully a major motion picture deal will be in the works.
If you haven't yet seen the video, be warned; it is so out-of-control, off-the-charts cute that the word "cute" seems like a hyperbolic understatement. After watching it, if your head or computer have not exploded, you still may want to see a doctor for any possible pretty and precious internal injuries.

Yes, the video is cute, but is the kitten having fun? It's being teased and is in defense mode. Continued teasing such as this can create a cranky cat at worst who will scratch and bite on the slightest provocation.
He's a cutie, but this kind of play is the kitten defending himself and continued "tickling" will make him grow up defensive instead of gentle and merely playful. My brother always played with our kittens this way and they were never very domesticated. To have a gentle cat the whole family can enjoy, begin by cuddling him on his back, stroking his head and chin. This gets him used to trusting you. Kittens naturally want to play fight and use their teeth. A kitten should be discouraged from this by stopping play and movement, saying NO!. He will stop unless he has been played with roughtly. If you are consistent, they will eventually they stop that behavior, in favor of a nice scratch behind the ears. Most people want a cat as a funny and loving companion, not a wildthing that thinks he has to defend himself when he see's you.

This is the cutest thing I've seen in a long time! I also have a cat and we play like this all the time. Keep up the good work. Playing with your animals like this only make them love you more and wait for you to come home to play. that is NOT a surprised look. That is a frightened look. And I agree, this will make the cat much more defensive. It's just plain mean, scaring the little thing this way.
seriously margaret? there are millions of homeless and abandoned cats and dogs who would love to be in "defense" mode as you say. This kitty is being loved and played with instead of being homeless and abused. how about getting on the same page with all the rest of the animal lovers out there and realize that this is harmless fun. How many people tickle and play with their children when they are little? Do these kids all grow up to be homicidal maniacs? i would believe not lol

omg. if i was rich, I'd donate to all those animals in the world. When i heard today this morning abou allmost 50-60 horses died, it was shocking and sad. All the love in the world to the owners. :] Love the surpried kitty tho. Must b e an honor to have that cat. Congratz :]

The horses that died, and the two men who died in the barn were in Lebanon Ohio. The raceway is right through our back yard practically, we heard the sirens in the middle of the night. It is awful. Google Lebanon Raceway. So many families here are just so taken aback at this horror. This is so many families livelihood. They consider their horses their children. My prayers go out to all of you in our community....

The video is 17 seconds. If people were constantly worried about starving people, we'd be dead from heart attack/stress before we were past our 30's.
I can't believe you're judging people who are watching an under 30 second video for not caring about the starving people in the world. I care just as much as the next person with a heart but really, I'm human - I can't enjoy 17 seconds of relaxation? I spend more time blinking in a day. You're on the computer too, get off your pathetic little rear and do something yourself. It probably took you longer then 17 seconds to make that comment. We spend more time SLEEPING.
