Meowch! Illinois Kitty Gets the Shock of Its Life

A curious cat used up one of its nine lives on Monday when -- perhaps in an attempt to answer the age-old question, "How many cats does it take to screw in a light bulb?" -- the inquisitive feline inadvertently touched a fuse, causing an electrical outage in the area of Greene County, Ill., reports the Associated Press.

The minor cat-astrophe occurred at a substation run by electrical service provider Ameren. When workers investigated the outage, they found the hapless cat lying several feet from where it seemed to have touched the fuse.

According to the AP, Ameren customers' power was restored within hours. And the cat? It survived and eventually bolted the scene.
